Verbeek is way overplaying his hand.

The ownership groups needs them to be competitive now.juan good eye wrote: ↑26 Jun 2026 08:43 am trying to force the team to be competitive now is a bad move.
im def not trading either of them straight up for mctavish. foh army. not today. dont you do itTheHighHat wrote: ↑26 Jun 2026 07:41 am At pick 11 we would be giving up Gustafsson or Cullen.
If both of those guys go top 10, that means Smits and/or Verhoeff drop to 11.
You caught me red-handed - I'm obviously trying to get Armstrong to blow a first round pick by posting my opinion on a board that he doesn't read.juan good eye wrote: ↑26 Jun 2026 08:43 am just bc the hawks (bleep) up the blues don’t need to do the same.
I would agree with that, if we are going to consider the 11th for A guy like Mctavish we should wait and see who is still on the board at 11 first.bluetunehead wrote: ↑26 Jun 2026 08:44 amI’m fine with one of 15 or 16. Please no to 11. Sigh. Statistically it might be a small difference but take your best shot in the draft please. We don’t even know who is going to be available there yet.Rollin' on the River wrote: ↑26 Jun 2026 08:37 am Apparently the Blues offer for MacTavish INCLUDES the 11th overall pick according to Friedman
Edit: for instance if it’s 15/16 then the rationale is basically Faulk or Kyrou for McTavish (and McMichael in the case of the Kyrou deal). I can live with that.
So do the fans, these tear down/suck for years rebuilds are fading out.BalotelliMassive wrote: ↑26 Jun 2026 08:46 amThe ownership groups needs them to be competitive now.juan good eye wrote: ↑26 Jun 2026 08:43 am trying to force the team to be competitive now is a bad move.

There’s no evidence for this.BalotelliMassive wrote: ↑26 Jun 2026 08:46 amThe ownership groups needs them to be competitive now.juan good eye wrote: ↑26 Jun 2026 08:43 am trying to force the team to be competitive now is a bad move.
army is so old school he might be checking these boards for fan sentiment so you never knowBalotelliMassive wrote: ↑26 Jun 2026 08:50 amYou caught me red-handed - I'm obviously trying to get Armstrong to blow a first round pick by posting my opinion on a board that he doesn't read.juan good eye wrote: ↑26 Jun 2026 08:43 am just bc the hawks (bleep) up the blues don’t need to do the same.![]()
I get it - they didn't want to wait three years for a defenseman to get his stuff together so they entered into a bidding war with San Jose and won (or lost depending on your perspective). I don't like it but they're better today.juan good eye wrote: ↑26 Jun 2026 09:08 am they overpay for byram I just don’t get it. at least see who is available at 4. i obviously hate the hawks and im sure they’ll be better in the immediate but possibly passing up on stenberg or even bjork who give conn smythr vibes is fascinating
As soon as the hawks get back into the playoffs and become competetive they will be on a lot more of these trade lists or UFA lists. Making that trade could have mind blowing positive effects before its done but people won't put things together in that much detail.BalotelliMassive wrote: ↑26 Jun 2026 09:12 amI get it - they didn't want to wait three years for a defenseman to get his stuff together so they entered into a bidding war with San Jose and won (or lost depending on your perspective). Hawks are definitely better after that trade. Sharks offered 9 and 27 for him.BalotelliMassive wrote: ↑26 Jun 2026 09:12 amI get it - they didn't want to wait three years for a defenseman to get his stuff together so they entered into a bidding war with San Jose and won (or lost depending on your perspective).
