At pick 11 we would be giving up Gustafsson or Cullen.
If both of those guys go top 10, that means Smits and/or Verhoeff drop to 11.

As far as what he offers that we could use, I've identified one specific skill: shootouts. If he's a competitor who is hard to play against, I could see him as a fit, even on the wing.

Would a swap with NYR of Lafrenriere be in consideration? Or has he regained favor in NY? I've heard they're shopping Trocheck, but do the Ducks want him? I would.

Again, what do the Ducks want? Just a pick or two? Which would mean just to get him off their team...
Maybe they want those 1st rounders to flip to Vancouver for Hronek.
I hope Army woke up this morning with a clear head.
 I was actually thinking yesterday about his demeanor in his interview after trading Kyrou, and he seemed calm and poised. Sometimes he's a little rattled or nervous. He said after the first big trade of draft week, GMs all kind of sleep on it. He just seems like he's done this so many times now that he truly understands it and won't repeat mistakes. Now, the guy just acquired his long-term dream Drouin...so the jury remains out! Today's a big day!

What about, as suggested above, 11 for McTavish and our second? With the thought that pick would be used for an offer sheet/trade
There is nothing certain with an offer sheet. Still not giving up a first on a player that is likely already at his ceiling range at this point. This is a player that Anaheim doesn’t even want.

A year ago he was a hot commodity and viewed in a totally different light. His coach at that time is now a blues assistant.

I agree. Especially #11. Was just wondering if the second would be enough of a sweetener.

I feel if he wasn’t the third overall pick that his return wouldn’t be anywhere near a mid first round pick. Maybe 29. But Q benching him and moving him to the wing tells me enough to not want to go in big for this kid.

True. But that coach got fired and the new coach benched him and moved him to the wing. I’m not giving them #11 for him.

Who knows, maybe the Rags come in with a better offer and this is all for nothing

@FriedgeHNIC reporting that he thinks a key part of the Blues offer is the 11th overall pick

Would you trade:

11th overall

For

McTavish
2027 2nd Round (Blues)?
I will hate if we do this. My only thought is we want our second back in the deal to offer sheet another player we have our eyes on?
I trust the amateur dept more than the pro side. I dunno I feel like the Blues can get a better player with #11 or jump up to 7th ish. I hate to use that much capital on a guy with red flags. Do we believe MM is a star? Seems over drafted at #3. I'm more comfortable with McMichael at center with his flags or a lesser move for another 2/3C tweener or just make the picks
The reality is Mctavish is far less of a risk than any of our draft picks, While I'd rather combine assets and get a bigger fish I'm don't know if that is even an option. I gotta think we have already explored other better options with no success.
Just because he’s a center doesn’t make it a good deal. I’d rather have Zary at this point, he can play center and he’s a gamer and you can get him for a lot less

Sure you can deal for him but I’m not giving up the first…that’s desperation.

I would 100% roll the dice on McTavish.

That said if the Blues really offered #11 we’d be talking about this trade in past tense.

NYR supposedly offered #26. If its taking Anaheim this long to decide, I’m guessing Blues are offering #29+.

Probably a dumb question. I see everyone talking about using 11th pick to get McTavish and our 2nd round pick back and then offer sheeting Don’t we have to keep 11 to include in the offer sheet since it is also our original pick?

An offer sheet in 2026 would utilize your 2027 draft picks as compensation.

Didn’t realize the 2nd was next years draft. Thanks for the clarification. Knew I was missing something.

If he's not a center or a poor one, where would he slot in as a LW? 2nd line? 3rd line? And do we want a LW at $7 mil x 5 for 20 goals?

It feels like a younger Buchnevich unless the Blues have a real way to fix his deficiencies as a center. Hope they've got it figured out.
