Go to the MTL boards and see if you see that.
Montreal fans thought they’d get Kyrou for Mike Matheson and Kirby Dach. Forgive me for not trusting their fans opinions above anyone else’s.
They know much more about him than almost all of us
So where do NHL GMs and scouts fit into it? Less than the folks on Habs boards?
Let's hope our scout(s) that gave Army the report on LM isn't the same scout that convinced Army to jump the TDL and trade Barbashev straight up for Dean on that Sunday morning a couple of years ago.

This trade stings and this is coming from a guy that always repeats the mantras: wingers are the easiest position to fill & you have to give to get.
Maybe it's because I didn't see it coming.
I really like Bolduc.
I don't like Kyrou & Buchnevich.
The trade would have been much more palatable if Army squeezed Hughes for one of his 2nd rounders next year as well.

Hopefully LM turns out to be a better RHD than Gilbert Delorme :)
He has the size and certainly not only fills a team need, but an organizational need.
He's surrounded by veteran d-men so hopefully he will learn and turn into a stud.

Feeling better already because we landed a young RHD.
Also the staff that has had some pretty bad whiffs on the defensive side for 5 years or so. Outside of Broberg, they’d basically be an solid D grade or so since the Cup
Interesting, based on what? Because the Blues and others feel like the organization has some really good defensive prospects. Lindstein, Fischer, Ralph, Jiricek, Burns, Paul Fischer (Edm) Weird opinion but you do like to (A female canine animal, especially a dog) and moan a lot
I’ll let you review the d five years ago vs today and figure it out bud
Yeah Bouwmeester retired. Petro retired. Gunnarsson retired. It happens.
Come on Petro “retired”? That’s way after the relevant period. The moves they made on the d are well documented (guys they let walk, traded, signed and left unprotected), as well as who they could’ve had on d starting last year for roughly the same price.

They did improve greatly last year tho. But it was very hard to watch them dismantle a cup winning group and today they let yet another guy go that I was actually excited about

Want a laugh - do a search for Bolduc and look at how the opinions differed less than a week ago.
Mailloux's name was toxic yesterday.
Oddly enough I wanted him yesterday, and I still want him today but Bolduc was an overpay IMO for more reasons than just skill and ability.

Bolduc's proven. Mailoux is still proving.

I don't have time to scroll through everything right now. His 5 pts in 8 career games is impressive but why has he barely played any NHL games spread over the last 2 seasons?
My problem is Mailloux is also proven. Proven that he could not secure a starting lineup with the Habs who were dreadful on defense. People on here are assuming he will step into the bottom pairing, but he has yet to prove he will even make a roster spot. He was sent down twice with the Habs.

I just don't get this trade at all. Bolduc was the 4th highest scoring rookie in the NHL last year and we gave him away for a prospect who has major metal lapses on the ice. I would muchhhhhhhh rather have Bolduc at $800k that Buch at $8M. We took a step back today.
Should have heard the reaction to Pronger.

From Hartford? I lived there when he was traded to the Blues.

I wonder if he matured from the sex act scandal in Sweden? Kids need to straighten up as we do not need a distraction. Plus the dumb slashing penalty every other games will not fly in NHL.

Armstrong has already stated he has a job in the NHL and it is his to lose in training camp.

We lost a 3rd line winger who had promise.

How did we take a step back? What if Dvorsky is his replacement and produces similar numbers? Is that a step back?

You and I saw two different players evidently. You saw a 3rd liner, I saw a guy who was putting in his dues who was succeeding in the assignment he was given. To his credit he was vastly improving to the point that it was obvious he was much more then a third liner.

Edit: If Dvorsky is a winger, then yes its a step back. He was drafted as a center, he needs to play center.

The idea isn’t he becomes a wing permanently. The idea is he’s in the NHL. Thomas started in the NHL as a wing.

I am pretty certain Thomas was a third line center with Kyrou and Barbashev as his wings.

The Blues now have TWO of the AHL Top Prospect Team members, each on the verge of breaking into the NHL. The short term may be rather bumpy but this has to mean there is broad acknowledgement of their potential.

He played wing Stanley cup year - Bozak was center and Maroon was other wing…

Not as a rookie. He was primarily a wing as a rookie. This was 2018-19, when the Top 3 Cs were ROR, Schenn, and Bozak. Thomas was 6th on the team in faceoffs behind Barbs and Sunny as well.

I wonder what the venn diagram would look like of people who, after watching 7 games, are ready to anoint Snuggerud a top line winger playing with Thomas, but 7 games for Mailloux consider the dude not worth a bag of pucks.

I for one, sure as heck don't know what either player is going to be - but I'm going to enjoy watching.

Ideally I would like Dvorsky to play wing this coming year to replace Bolduc. Following the path Thomas did. Not sure if I like Bjustad and/or Sundqvist as the center, so I'll guess we'll see.
