All teams.
He actually renounced himself from the Draft; and the Hab's took him anyway.
And then Bettman had to get involved to see if he'd be allowed to play in the NHL after the incident.

Wow I either forgot or wasn’t paying attention. Without reading the article, does anyone know where he was projected to go in the draft before the controversy?
Supposedly Rounds 15-32

Does the coach have the final word? No, I'm not saying that. But I have to believe that Monty thought this trade was in the Blues' best interest!

Of course Army talked to Monty and I’m sure he talked to a nice list of people in the organization that might have advised against it.

This trade might work out but right now it reeks of Army wanting to make a big trade in the final offseason as the Blues GM. In an offseason where the FA market looks very bleak and he hit the phones hard to see what’s out there for Kyrou before his NTC kicked in.

Army doesnt make trades or drafts or any personnel moves without consulting his staff. These decisions are made as a group. Of course Monty was brought in along with Steen, Al MacInnis, the entire group comes to a consensus.

So just being right handed makes 8-game Mailloux significantly more valuable than a proven, young, Top 4 NHL dman like Miller? It is very hard for me to defend this trade at the moment. In hindsight, it may work out but it is still dumb.

This trade is getting HAMMERED in the hockey online forums as a big win for the Habs and loss for the Blues.
You are far too smart to put any stock in the opinions of online forums. Rush to judgment before the paint dries is silly. This is like grading a pro sports draft the morning after the draft. Grade the draft 2-3 years from now. Same for this trade. I get it, I do, but the kid is 22, and yeah, he's got some [shirt]ty baggage, but they system gave him a second chance, thinking we should to. There are many variables in place here. Let's see how it all plays out.

I'll give you a non sports related example of something that is getting hammered that shouldn't and that's the plea that's going to happen tomorrow in the Kohlberger (sp) murder case. The Idaho college killings. This is what you and I do for a living. I don't know your area of specialty but that is mine. 4 convictions with life without in our system is a win for the people, it's a win for the victims and regardless of the amount of noise being created, especially by one of the victim's families, it's a win for the victims families. The fact that the shitheel is going to sodomy central until they take him out in a box is a great thing. The victims families wanted revenge and I get it, but they likely had no real handle on what they would have had to sit and listen to for months. The families wanted the death penalty but the death penalty is such a ridiculous endeavor in this country that the odds of it every happening and being carried out, from the verdict, thru appeals to an execution are small.

I'm not really sure what my point is other than the internet sucks and give the trade a chance.
I hear you but I would feel a lot better if there was even a decent minority saying "whoa, don't sleep on Mailloux" but not seeing that at all. Almost universally, they are saying what a lot are saying here.
And I hear that, from you. Not the internet. I'm willing to give it time. I'm too much of a fan of this team. And the leadership group mostly gets the benefit of the doubt from me. Are they perfect, nope. They are not. But I'm willing to watch this play out.

Some things I do want to point out while the board and twitter proclaim Bolduc the second coming of Mark Messier. He had an awesome one half of a season. This happened while the entire team was on a roll. It was great to watch. Other than that? Invisible the first half of the year, he was scratched at least once if not more. As I posted earlier he was not good in the Jets series. Again, I'll chalk that up to being a rookie and hope he learned from it. He was a minus player and he didn't pot a goal. He took more than one really (bleep) poor and ill timed penalty in the series. And the nonsense about "he scored all those goals playing with Sunny and Dags and Cole and the 3rd, that's silly. I haven't looked but he got a ton of PP time, rightfully so. I suspect he is going to have a rock solid career in the middle 6. I'm ok with this trade today.
Bolduc was the youngest and least experienced forward on the team. That should get him the benefit of the doubt without question.

Early season; he was being talked about in the same breath as Carson Lambos(8-15 range).
And then the scandal happened and a LOT of publishers took him off their lists completely.

MacKenzie had him at 35; but that was with the scandal being factored in.

That said, I don't think that this is a complete fleecing. Mailloux looks pretty impressive. I'll reserve judgement until I see him play.

I think this move tells us that Armstrong is less confident in Jiricek making it. That situation is what made this move extremely necessary and urgent.
Or that Jiricek may just need a few years to develop, and then RHD becomes a strength. Who knows, but he's dealing from a position of strength at this point to fill obvious needs. Let's just hope it works out for the Blues.
Even when Jiricek is a regular player by that time its likely that Faulk is gone, Parayko is older. The franchise needs RHD men this was a chance to land a franchise type of kid. Both things being equal the RHD has more value than a LW, so its a no brainer. The Blues scouts have done the work, the AHL numbers are very quality now time will tell.

They're not trading Snuggy and they just drafted Carbonneau so it was Kyrou or Bolduc. Once Kyrou's NTC kicked in it was Bolduc. He wasn't going to get in at LW it was jammed.

a) log jam at young forwards
b) Bad depth at RHD
c) apparently a kid they wanted anyway

I agree. Totally agree. That being said it might take a year or two before we know what he truly is. Can he be a top of the heap middle six that is a regularly 20-25 g 50 pt, hits a ton guy. Absolutely. Or maybe he ends up a consistent third line guy in the 40 pt range. None of us know. I hope he flouruishes in MTL as much as I hope Mailoux becomes a freight train of a RHD here. Then everybody wins.

All I can say is this kid better be REALLY f'n good. Bolduc has at least perennial 50 pt potential and who knows what he could become in 5+ years.

Bolduc's proven. Mailoux is still proving.

I don't have time to scroll through everything right now. His 5 pts in 8 career games is impressive but why has he barely played any NHL games spread over the last 2 seasons?

And Mailloux ain’t Paul Coffey. Lots of folks trying to rationalize this deal 4 years as a pro and he couldn’t crack the Habs D corps. Not exactly a defensive juggernaut. Just yuck

Bolduc is a work in progress. His minutes in the playoffs are proof of that. So is Mailloux, and his mistakes have a big giant amplifier on them because of his position.
Two Goals and three assists in eight NHL Games is eye popping for a 20 and 21 year old defenseman.
He is 6’3 and a righty and turned 22 a couple of months ago.
He hits and has a cannon.
Once again, I disagree with many on the internet.
This is a big win, on paper.
There are precious few goddanged defensemen playing in the NHL at 20 and 21 years of age for whom the game is not some kind of an adventure.

I ain’t frowning.
