Can you please cite some reasons that point to LA as a thriving city at present?
Economics.
The GDP of Los Angeles is triple that of the entire state of Missouri.
The city is facing lower than projected tax revenue, huge legal liabilities, huge budget shortfalls. It’s essentially an insolvent city. Homelessness is up despite billions of dollars thrown at the problem. The wildfires were managed terribly and the aftermath is getting managed worse. The population growth is negative and Hollywood is dying. Thriving is not the adjective I’d use
There is absolutely no way to compare St. Louis and the quality of life to LA, even with the stuff you mention. Come on man. I'm not in my 20's or 30's anymore but, when I was, LA and Denver were top of the list for places to live. Were I a pro baseball player, the former would be the place I'd have wanted to be.

You are correct there is much more to it than $$$. I will also say they are better marketers than this organization regardless of their market size.
It's not too difficult to market a team of superstars including a one of a kind guy like Ohtani.

All of their advantages are the result of them being able to print money in that market.

Which superstar player do the Cards currently have to market?
They have the brains in LA to spend for the stars and then market them. The fact the Cards don’t have a superstar is their own fault because they can’t see past their nose.
To play Devil’s advocate, they can spend for the stars due to the revenue from a much larger market, and can market them to said huge market, one much larger than StL. That’s reality, and one the Cardinals need to be smart to overcome.
I get your point and I don’t expect nor think it wise for St Louis to spend like they do. But they are taking advantage of their market size. Many teams do not do that. Prime example Cardinals. Not LA but they can afford to spend more. I would also suggest from top to bottom LA is a much better run organization than the Cardinals have been. Better players, better coaches, better player development, etc.

Hopefully Bloom fixes it. I’m just pointing out out it’s more than market size.

Because the Dodgers wear blue and play in LA and the Cardinals wear red and play in St Louis. That’s why they aren’t the same.

The Dodgers do have a huge revenue advantage....but give them credit....they develop players better than we do!
Especially pitchers.
I’m optimistic that we are on the rebound thanks...hopefully...to a revitalized farm system!

Or you can say it’s the third largest economy in the world.

With all due respect......The Dodgers had not won a World Series since 1988 until they won in '24! That was 36 years! The Cards also have won 2 since '89 and 3 since '82......same as the Dodgers. Just sayin'

That’s a fair point.

My hope is that once the minor league pipeline is rebuilt the org will return to doing everything they can. We’ll see.

I could.
But Woofy requested a direct comparison which I provided.
Twice.

I never once compared the two cities. I simply made them point that calling it thriving is inaccurate.

It is amazing how the Dodgers developed their best pitchers.

+21 Yamamoto (December 27, 2023: Signed as a Free Agent with the Los Angeles Dodgers.)
+19 Ohtani (December 11, 2023: Signed as a Free Agent with the Los Angeles Dodgers.)
+16 Wrobleski (July 13, 2021: Drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 11th round of the 2021 amateur draft. Player signed July 26, 2021.)
+8 Glasnow (December 16, 2023: Traded by the Tampa Bay Rays with Manuel Margot and cash to the Los Angeles Dodgers for Jonny DeLuca and Ryan Pepiot.)
+7 Scott (January 23, 2025: Signed as a Free Agent with the Los Angeles Dodgers.)
+6 Lauer (May 17, 2026: Purchased by the Los Angeles Dodgers from the Toronto Blue Jays.)
+5 Vesia (February 12, 2021: Traded by the Miami Marlins with Kyle Hurt to the Los Angeles Dodgers for Dylan Floro.)

and their best hitters.

+34 Pages (March 1, 2018: Signed as a Free Agent with the Los Angeles Dodgers.)
+24 Muncy (April 28, 2017: Signed as a Free Agent with the Los Angeles Dodgers.)
+21 Ohtani (December 11, 2023: Signed as a Free Agent with the Los Angeles Dodgers.)
+19 Freeman (March 18, 2022: Signed as a Free Agent with the Los Angeles Dodgers.)
+9 Edman (July 29, 2024: Traded as part of a 3-team trade by the St. Louis Cardinals with Oliver Gonzalez (minors) to the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Chicago White Sox sent Michael Kopech to the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Chicago White Sox sent Erick Fedde, Tommy Pham and cash to the St. Louis Cardinals. The Los Angeles Dodgers sent Alexander Albertus (minors), Jeral Perez (minors), Miguel Vargas and future considerations to the Chicago White Sox.)
+7 Betts (February 10, 2020: Traded by the Boston Red Sox with David Price and cash to the Los Angeles Dodgers for Jeter Downs, Alex Verdugo and Connor Wong.)
+6 Rushing (July 17, 2022: Drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 2nd round of the 2022 amateur draft. Player signed August 1, 2022.)

now they will need to develop Skubal.
