Swing big and go for B. Woo of the M's!
Then move JJW to SS until one of the many drafted kid SS's is ready.

I have not liked what I've seen with JJ at short. I think trading Winn would be a huge mistake at this point in time.rockondlouie wrote: ↑27 Jul 2026 12:55 pmI'd love to see this!

I agree. Not opposed to trading Winn if we had a better option at SS. Wetherholt isn't the answer.cardinalsfever44 wrote: ↑27 Jul 2026 12:56 pmI have not liked what I've seen with JJ at short. Seattle is probably one of the last destinations for Winn. They already have Colt Emerson, Cole Young, and J.P. Crawford for up the middle.rockondlouie wrote: ↑27 Jul 2026 12:55 pmI'd love to see this!

agree completely with this -- he has no mandate to offload money this year so he will only do something if he believes it improves the team.hornetfb52 wrote: ↑27 Jul 2026 12:43 pm I’m not advocating for trading anyone except the expected. However, bloom has no real connections to anyone. If someone comes in with a good offer for Burly or Winn I could see him doing it. Walker and JJW are the only real likely untouchables. That said, I expect May, Romero and Stanek to go. Think they’ll hold onto ROB and Noot

The elite and winning POBO’s should be better than that. They should have insight, intuition, feel to trade their capped out talent and return gems that the other team couldn’t see.
Example…..Mo trading Sandy to Marlins. A big win for the Marlins GM. Stole a Cy Young
Yeah, not opposed to trading Winn for the right price, it's just that JJ hasn't looked good to me at SS. He has bounced routine throws and seems to have limited range for the position, especially in comparison to Winn.JuanAgosto wrote: ↑27 Jul 2026 12:59 pmI agree. 3 games he played SS for the Cards. Mostly played SS in the minors and 3b in college. I am willing to be he'd be good at any of these positionscardinalsfever44 wrote: ↑27 Jul 2026 13:13 pmYeah, not opposed to trading Winn for the right price, it's just that JJ hasn't looked good to me at SS. Winn would be perfectly fine as an all glove, light bat SS if we can fill in the lineup around him with some better bats. I'm keeping him unless some team wants to blow us away with an offer.
Actually the M's would likely be one of the top destinations.Futuregm2 wrote: ↑27 Jul 2026 13:00 pmSeattle is probably one of the last destinations for Winn. That is a good point. Lots of directions this team can go and it'll be exciting to see what Bloom decides to do in the next few days.rockondlouie wrote: ↑27 Jul 2026 13:26 pmRespect your opinion cf44cardinalsfever44 wrote: ↑27 Jul 2026 12:56 pmI have not liked what I've seen with JJ at short. I've watched JJW there too
I think he'd be a "+" defender, no where near Winn level, but the offensive upgrade would be dramatic.
2nd base is also an easier position to find his replacement.
Emerson’s OPS/OPS+ is equal to Winn’s…He’s a 21 year old rookie who was a top 10 prospect in baseball. They aren’t going to give up on him because of 193 PAs.rockondlouie wrote: ↑27 Jul 2026 13:20 pmActually the M's would likely be one of the top destinations.Futuregm2 wrote: ↑27 Jul 2026 13:00 pmSeattle is probably one of the last destinations for Winn. Crawford isn't the answer given his problems in the field, he's a defensive liability.
Emerson struggled big time when recalled and could be a position change candidate
Cole is a 2nd baseman
Given their great starting pitching an elite glove like Winn's at SS would be ideal for the M's.
Perfect trade partner if C. Bloom swings big and offers them Winn.
Correct.cardinalsfever44 wrote: ↑27 Jul 2026 12:56 pmI have not liked what I've seen with JJ at short. I think trading Winn would be a huge mistake at this point in time.rockondlouie wrote: ↑27 Jul 2026 12:55 pmI'd love to see this!

Certainly not claiming the M's are "giving up" on Emerson............but a Gold Glove SS like Winn fits their teams need better and Emerson could be a position change.Futuregm2 wrote: ↑27 Jul 2026 13:29 pmEmerson’s OPS/OPS+ is equal to Winn’s…He’s a 21 year old rookie who was a top 10 prospect in baseball. Cole was moved to 2B because of Crawford/Emerson.
I think Ivan Herrera is a better fit for Seattle than Winn. But I also wouldn’t mind a Herrera to NYY for Ryan Weathers type of deal. Or to Baltimore in a package for Gunnar Henderson. But the latter is probably a pipe dream, even though he’s struggled a bit this year.
No way he would be a + defender at SS. His arm alone is a major downgrade. Don't fall into the group that only looks at offense.rockondlouie wrote: ↑27 Jul 2026 13:26 pmRespect your opinion cf44cardinalsfever44 wrote: ↑27 Jul 2026 12:56 pmI have not liked what I've seen with JJ at short.
