And that hitter's extra at bats over the course of a season lead to more RBI chances for the team as a wholeVoldemort wrote: ↑25 Jul 2026 17:06 pmAs it potentially gives a hitter more at bats which, most likely is one more, it also potentially gives a hitter fewer RBI chances.cosmo.kramer wrote: ↑25 Jul 2026 17:04 pm2nd spot gives your best hitter more at bats. Herrera last caught a game four days ago. This will only be his 3rd game at catcher in 9 games since the breakBob Kunush wrote: ↑25 Jul 2026 17:24 pm If it is a discovery year Crooks should be starting catcher in nearly every game vs. Right-handed pitching for the coming weeks. Herrera can catch against lefties. Crooks needs to have a stretch of playing and see if he can figure something out. There is no need to have him sitting around as much as he does if he is going to ge here. I usually defend Ollie and don't jump his every move but the last thing Herrera needs to he doing is catching a lot of games.
Crooks has started at catcher three straight games before the off day today (and 5 of 9 since the break)
A ~1/3 Herrera ~2/3 Crooks catching split seems fairly reasonable

I do agree with this; however, currently Pages also takes up a start or two in there. Now that the season has fallen off a cliff, I'd be fine with Crooks getting 75% of the starts for a couple months to see if he can show anything. I have my doubts, but he deserves the chance.cosmo.kramer wrote: ↑25 Jul 2026 17:49 pmHerrera last caught a game four days ago. Hence all the RBI fir JW.. Now hes hitting behind Church, Crooks, and JJ instead of hitting behind JJ, Ivan, and Burly.. still doesn't make sense to me.cosmo.kramer wrote: ↑25 Jul 2026 17:42 pmWalker leads the team in OBP in July at .37582birds wrote: ↑25 Jul 2026 17:35 pmmakes sense to me 08NYRamFan08NY wrote: ↑25 Jul 2026 17:30 pmId put Walker back where he lead the majors in RBI and put the OB % guy back at 2nd.cosmo.kramer wrote: ↑25 Jul 2026 16:02 pmWhat would you change?JuanAgosto wrote: ↑25 Jul 2026 15:59 pm So very little change to a lineup that mustered all of two piddly hits last night. Is there some source I could read that stat in? I believe that both the 3rd and 4th places in the order offer more opportunities than one more "probable" at bat.cosmo.kramer wrote: ↑25 Jul 2026 17:38 pmAnd that hitter's extra at bats over the course of a season lead to more RBI chances for the team as a wholeVoldemort wrote: ↑25 Jul 2026 17:06 pmAs it potentially gives a hitter more at bats which, most likely is one more, it also potentially gives a hitter fewer RBI chances.cosmo.kramer wrote: ↑25 Jul 2026 17:04 pm2nd spot gives your best hitter more at bats. Its a wonder why they never batted Pujols leadoff .....to get him 28 extra ABs throughout the season.Voldemort wrote: ↑25 Jul 2026 17:59 pmIs there some source I could read that stat in?
