2nd spot gives your best hitter more at bats. This is his third game batting 2nd all season
More ABs but with fewer men on base. Thats why JJW only has 30 some rbi.

What would you change?
I would give the lefty-righty strategy a break. And I would not be putting a fatigued looking Herrera behind the plate. If it is a rebuild season, play the young catcher. After all, he had one of your two hits last night. And i just do not understand the infatuation with putting your most dangerous bat second. That guy should be third or cleanup. I would go:

Wetherholt
Nootbaar
Walker
Burleson
Jordan
Herrera
Winn
Crooks
Church
Noot
JJ
Walker
Burly
Herrera
Jordan
Crooks
Winn
Church
Nootbaar started well in June, but his July has been rough (.172/.273/.259/.531)
Just about the whole team is slumping in July in
Told it’s because walker was in the derby
Yeah even JJ over the last month is .221/.302/.327/.629

Id put Walker back where he lead the majors in RBI and put the OB % guy back at 2nd.
makes sense to me 08NY

I like your lineup better than mine. Very nice.

Walker leads the team in OBP in July at .375

Herrera OBP in July is .247

Herrera can catch against lefties. Crooks needs to have a stretch of playing and see if he can figure something out. There is no need to have him sitting around as much as he does if he is going to ge here. I usually defend Ollie and don't jump his every move but the last thing Herrera needs to he doing is catching a lot of games.
Herrera last caught a game four days ago. This will only be his 3rd game at catcher in 9 games since the break

Crooks has started at catcher three straight games before the off day today (and 5 of 9 since the break)

A ~1/3 Herrera ~2/3 Crooks catching split seems fairly reasonable

I do agree with this; however, currently Pages also takes up a start or two in there. Now that the season has fallen off a cliff, I'd be fine with Crooks getting 75% of the starts for a couple months to see if he can show anything. I have my doubts, but he deserves the chance.

I think that's what we see after the trade deadline

Hence all the RBI fir JW.. Now hes hitting behind Church, Crooks, and JJ instead of hitting behind JJ, Ivan, and Burly.. still doesn't make sense to me.

Is there some source I could read that stat in? I believe that both the 3rd and 4th places in the order offer more opportunities than one more "probable" at bat.

Its a wonder why they never batted Pujols leadoff .....to get him 28 extra ABs throughout the season.
