So who offered the major league roster would you trade? I’ll keep it to major league roster only.
My simple answer is anybody on the roster is available. For the right deal nobody is untouchable.
In reality I’d say JJ and Walker shouldn’t be traded. Everyone else is up for grabs.
The only way I would say a player is untouchable is if he was the best player in Major league baseball that couldn’t be replaced with a better talent.
At some point, very specific decisions must be made as to who to keep and who to deal.
"Everyone except 2 people" isn't really a plan.
Further, short-term and long-term exigencies must be constantly evaluated and weighed against each other.
So, what is the correct answer for the deadline?
Happy to provide that.
Bruihl, Hence, O' Brien, Stanek, Fernandez are on the 40 man and any two could be moved.
Any one of May, Pallante, Leahy, and Liberatore could be moved - or 2 from the group if a starting pitcher was acquired before the deadline.
It would be a huge gift to either player if Gorman or Scott were to be traded.
Mootbaar should have been traded 4 years ago when I was the only person on the planet who understood that and it would be gross incompetence on the part of Bloom to fail to do so now.
Any two from the Fermin, Torres, Valazquez, and Saggese scrum could fit into one package or another.
The catcher situation, which the team has somehow managed to turn into a mess rather than an asset, is best addressed in the off-season.
That is the correct approach to the OP's question regarding the 40-man roster.
If requested, I can provide the answer concerning those not on the 40 man.
