Canes owner puts his kids' names on the Cup

The owner owns that portion of the Cup (cup). Anyone and everyone can bid on getting whatever they want to have engraved on the cup. To be fair, the bidding will start at eight million dollars because this bidding is reserved for that upperclass portion of the earths population, because come on, folks with the right amount of money automatically get this privilage. No other qualifications are necessary to be a part of this advertisement without doing anthing.

The Stanley Cup used to be respected as one of, if not the hardest trophy to earn. Yes I'm ticked off. But I'm just an old lifer fan of the great sport of Hockey. What do I know.

According to Rivers on the Fast Lane yesterday, the NHL does not get a list of names prior to the engraving. At least one instance the HOF had the name of a person "Xed" out in the past. If true, it's time the NHL approves the list prior to the engraving.

But the Blues had to petition to get a player’s name added (Del Zotto) because he didn’t meet the eligibility requiremrnts; so now they just don’t care (owner and team) to abide by the rules?

Again, according to Rivers, there are certain requirements to being listed on the cup. Games played is one for instance. I think they said 41. If they don't make that number the owners can petition the league to have them included. But apparently due to time constraints, so everyone's day with the cup can begin, it's not proofed before being on the cup. I honestly don't see how the NHL decided to not check it before engraving begins but I don't know. It was suggested that some team personal and one player that didn't reach the minimum game threshold were left off so the kids could get on it.

Honestly I had a much larger statement typed up and then had to change it because I went off on too long of a rant and I felt crazy when I reread it.
I absolutely hate that that guy got away with that. I hope the players come together and put a stop to that shirt.

I have also read that he left before the season started, so wouldn’t have been on there anyway.
Again though, where is the league? You should have to submit a list for approval.

but followed by (the best I could find for crying...crying for the NHL). The management of that league really is poor.

I think it would be great if a player said. "I'm proud of my teammates; I'm proud of my contribution; I'm proud of my ring; I'm elated for the fans; I know what I have done and so do those whom care about me; my name will be in the record books accordingly for posterity...but please respect my wishes and remove my engraved name off of this Cup for this Championship."
