Stenberg isn’t worth it. Not even close for the Blues.
Why would you give up all of that for a player that is somewhat redundant on our roster.
We are deep on the wing.
If we trade up I want a stud defenseman like Carels. Trading all those pick for yet another winger doesn’t make any sense at all.
This team needs a quality #2 center or a potential stud defenseman. If they move picks, it better be for a proven quality NHL 2C or a Carels type defenseman.

You don’t think Stenberg projects as a 80-90 point, play driving forward? By most accounts they were hesitant to include him in a Robert Thomas trade, so I doubt they'd do it for picks.skilles wrote: ↑06 May 2026 14:58 pmI think that is the kind of think I'd prefer.LGB73 wrote: ↑06 May 2026 14:41 pmI meant I'd rather trade 11+15 for Desnoyers who was the 4th pick last year. Throw in a LD prospect not named Lindstein if we have to.

Fair enough. I still maintain he could the best player, and certainly the best winger, on this team but if you don’t agree with that then I would see why you wouldn’t want to spend assets to trade up for him.Pierre McGuire wrote: ↑06 May 2026 20:08 pmNope and I also don’t believe he’s a better player than Thomas. The Average Gatsby wrote: ↑06 May 2026 19:40 pmYou don’t think Stenberg projects as a 80-90 point, play driving forward? Agreed. I doubt Stenberg will be as good as Thomas when he wants to be good.
Why are so many people hungry for a brother combo?
SJ not going to trade Dickenson when they need more/better dmen.
Regarding the Army interview, I didn’t get the same read as others. Yeah, Army said you have enough to get up to 3-5 but he also laughed and said you have to have another team willing to do it. Is it possible, yes. Does the scoring add up, sure but most teams don’t do it. For the same reason we want to, to get a great player. Maybe a team like Vancouver might consider it if they get multiple firsts. They need serious help but a team like Seattle, I would think they want great young players as much as we do.

Oh I’d trade up for him but it’s gonna be be very costly. Remember the cost isn’t for him, it’s for the #2 slot. Also not sure if they somehow make a deal for the 2nd overall…Reid would seem to make more sense. I think I’d be more interested in moving up a few slots and drafting Rudolph. The Average Gatsby wrote: ↑06 May 2026 20:26 pmFair enough. I read on the Athletic that there is a possibility that Stenberg drops to 5…..
Toronto- McKenna
San Jose - they need defense
Vancouver - they need everything, but they are really looking at center (Mohaltra?)
Chicago - they want defense (Reid or Carels…whoever SJ doesn’t take)
Anything is possible.

Stenberg is not the guy for me, if I'm investing that much its gotta be on D or center. Rudolph seems like a better more realistic move IMO.
My guess is that SJ is willing to trade that pick but not go as far back as the Blues pick.

With Sundin part of the front office, I wouldn’t even bet against him taking his local countryman. It’s the Leafs…if there is a way to fock this draft up, they will figure it out.Bubble4427 wrote: ↑06 May 2026 20:44 pmI completely agree.Pierre McGuire wrote: ↑06 May 2026 20:34 pmOh I’d trade up for him but it’s gonna be be very costly. Re: Army is indicating they can move into the top five
For the blues to get to top 5, you need to think of the teams needs:
SJ core is forwards under 23. And trade here is for a RD that is 18-22 NHL ready. And has to be better than Reid whom they can take.
Van needs a center. Anything you trade has to be better than Malholtra whom they can pick and has ties. Or Stenberg if SJ doesn’t take him.
Chicago needs …. A lot. They will take BPA. But they need high caliber a lot, so giving up a possible Steinberg that could fall to them isn’t likely. If it’s Malholtra that falls then maybe. I would think they would run to the podium for Reid or Steinberg
Rangers need young D. I think here is a more realistic option but if your the Rangers you probably think your good at selecting any of the top 5 D in this draft. I can see them moving back, but not to 11 where even Ruldoph is gone. They need to leave with Reid, Carels, Smits or Ruldoph or Verhoeff.
Looking at those needs, I just don’t think the Blues have the assets to move a team off their expected picks.

And when it gets to that point, then the Blues may feel confident that there is no need to move up and keep the #15?
