lol no if the player is a cardinals he says they suck are no good And are overpaid and the cardinals are stupid for having them if they trade that same player suddenly they are good and the contract is fair and the cardinals are stupid for trading them and should have got elite prospects for the players he said suck. So it’s pretty much if they play for the cardinals they suck until they are traded then suddenly he thinks they are goodCusecards wrote: ↑17 Mar 2026 12:11 pmOz...I think he needs a new dart board to throw at in order to “formulate” his opinions?? Winn is a very good player. But his trade value would be negative if he was signed to a 10 year $400,000,000 contract. They would have to send about $300,000,000 with him to get a buyer. Which is why Boston didn't also send back MLB top ten ranked prospects in return.
So yes Contreras and Gray etc are players good enough to play on a contender. But due to their contract status money had to be added to get another team to take them on. Lots of players in the latter half of contracts are net negatives versus what the team could sign on the open market for their price.
The players we got back in many of these trades were risky. Bloom has shown a strategy different from Mo in that he takes high risk high return chances. If he hits on a few he will look a genius in 2028 when STL is again a serious contender. If none hit bummer. We'll see.
Either that or improve his aim?????

Clarke won’t be MLB ready for 2-3 years. Circulation surgery. The Cardinals knew. Will be great to have him down the road.

Figured it was coming but I saw today where Dobbins was put on the 15 day IL still rehabbing the surgically repaired torn ACL.
He's been throwing but hes still working on fielding so it will be awhile longer before hes ready.

The Cards had Herrera waiting years for Yadi to retire. He and KNiz could’ve handle catcher. The GREAT need was offense, not “good hitting catcher” offense but real offense.
In Grays case if MO was spending what he did…..the Cards needs a true #1 so he should’ve spent a little more and signed one….not an aging soft tosser
Does that mean Gray and WS had no MLB value?? No it means they weren’t the right contracts and players for the Cardinals team. Again is this a difficult concept for you??

And my point was/is that Bloom should’ve requested different HEALTHY bodies. If I’m reading correctly Clarke has never pitched a full season ANYWHERE. TJ(major), TOS(Major), Fractured shoulder(Major), Circulatory issues/numb arm/aneurysm(Major)Ozziesfan41 wrote: ↑17 Mar 2026 17:31 pmI think they got the best they could get because i dont blatantly ignore the facts of the situation. As for me I’ll take being a “goober”.

Talk about a great time at the ballpark!!!!!
Cards pitching could get real interesting by the end of the season?
Fitts then Dobbins then Mathews.
Doyle/Clarke/Cijntje(sp??) are the high leverage guys coming soon.
Good stuff!!

Re: Pitchers received from Sox
I’ve also posted that I’ve not been that high on the returns that Bloom received, but I can’t sit here and tell you he didn’t get the best that he could. None of us know if he targeted these exact players or if they were just best he could get!
Since a lot of the deals were with Boston, he supposedly had some insight on many of them, so you’d think they were players he wanted.
I think a lot of the issues were that teams knew Bloom was ordered to cut payroll, so they didn’t have over pay on their end of the deals to get a deal done. Especially with Gray and Arenado.
Like I’ve said, in 3 years or so, we’ll know if Bloom did ok, or not.

Re: Pitchers received from Sox
Throughout 2024-25, Bloom’s job was to rebuild and rejuvenate the Cardinals scouting and development systems. That not only involved drafting players, but knowing the players in other teams systems. That supposedly is Bloom’s strong suit. For now, I’m going to assume that Bloom knows more, and sees more in, these guys than any of us do. Fitts and Dobbins are not the headliners coming back. They’re rotation fill for the rebuild. The guys to watch are the young arms, including Clarke.
