charley48 wrote: 25 Jan 2026 11:51 am San Antonio would probably get a team before St Louis. Texans can be rabid football fans. But St Louis does would have the support if there are two new franchises. Orlando and London are also possibilities. So I would not write off St Louis. Unless the local politicians shoot down a proposal to pay for a new stadium.
I doubt it. Jerruh doesn’t want a team there to take away from the Cowboys. And you’d think San Antonio would’ve done a better job supporting its UFL team.

With that being said, it’s a pipe dream that they would come back here, even with the senator advocating for it.

I also don’t think Orlando would be viable. London would be but the whole travel and currency exchange are roadblocks for that.
I agree concerning San Antonio. The Texans would fight it, too.

The NFL has pretty much ruled out having teams headquartered in Europe. The covid situation showed how difficult it would be to have a team over there. Their current goal is to play 16 international games per year using the current teams.

If two teams are added, I think they would be STL and Toronto.

"Do you think they might give us a team again? Can we get down and beg? On our knees with wads of cash out for them? Pretty please? We really want it!!??"

How gross can you get? This attitude is kind of like staying with a cheating spouse, have you no self respect? Because you simply cannot give up watching a bunch of 'roided up mutants line up and bash each other into the ground every Sunday? And you just want so bad for your own city and region to bend over and 'reap' the 'benefits' these cartels provide.

Find some self respect and support the teams you still have here if you care for them. Growing markets could threaten the last vestiges of civic pride in this regions while you all argue amongst yourselves.
Would it be more prudent to pursue getting an NBA team?
I don’t think that’s a terrible idea
The NBA is going to expand by two teams in the not too distant future. Seattle will likely be a shoo-in, with Vegas as another possibility. Vegas might be getting oversaturated by adding the Golden Knights, Raiders and Athletics recently. An NBA size building is going to be built in San Diego which could become a possibility.

I see STL as more of an NFL market than an NBA market. There's just a lot more history in STL with the NFL, and STL has been a good NFL market twice before.
NBA isn’t coming to St. Louis. Seems like it’ll be Seattle and Vegas.

I’ve heard some rumblings we could pursue WNBA but honestly who gives a [shirt]
That one might not be difficult to lead in attendance.

Gross.

Unless we bring in Sophie the Trophy as the face of the franchise, it’s not worth it.

If that chance would ever come along, could the Dome be redone instead of building a brand new one ? if I remember Skank was ok if they redid the dome, it would less time and less money.

Yes, I believe redoing the dome would be the better solution. Stan actually had a proposal to do just that at one time. The riverfront stadium idea came from an assumption that STL made that the NFL would want a whole new stadium. I never understood that assumption. Peer cities like Indianapolis, Minnesota, Atlanta, Detroit, Houston all have domes and Chicago, Nashville and Kansas City (KS) want domes.

STL's current dome is in a great spot and redoing the dome would be the most cost effective solution. The dome connected to the convention center is unique and a big plus. Stadiums like Wrigley Field, Fenway Park, Lambeau Field, the Superdome and others have been redone and are considered to be very good venues now. Jacksonville is creating a dome on the site of their current stadium. Using the remaining NFL/Kroenke money toward the dome rebuild could be a way to get the NFL to believe in the project.

There is no way in Hell that St. Louis should spend one more dollar in any effort to do anything for that corrupt league to 'notice us'. Ram's settlement or not, here's another big Hell no.

Is you life really that much poorer because you don't have a stupid nfl team here in town? Does is effect your civic pride so that you simply can't help it? Finally, are you simply a masochist??

Possible team names for STL football fans who simply cannot live without wistfully putting all hopes on a cartel that has directly (bleep) on your city twice, all in the hopes that one day they 'give' 'us' a team again?

I can think of 2 right off the top of my head;

STL Bootlickers, for those who would bend over for anyone as long as they gave you a team

STL Cuckolds, for those who can't give up on a league that openly despises your city.

What is better, self respect or crawling and begging on your knees for a team that will never happen?

If we get WNBA, I’m sure you’ll be the first in line for season tickets right? In fact, why don’t we go in on a pair? I’m thinking courtside.

Yes, because it certainly all about you and I, right chief?

Keep wistfully hoping that your beloved NFL will someday return (it won't and good riddance)
