“Dat Bobby Gassoff, he real tough cookie. He shoot he skate he fight he do a lotta tings out dere. I don’ know how he do it but he do a lotta tings.”

Classic Picardism!

I can visualize the great Dan Kelly rolling his eyes having to listen to Noel’s broken English. But it was fun for us listeners.

On a semi-related topic: Anyone remember when Bill Wilkerson was the color commentator briefly? Nice guy, and good with football, but knew nothing about hockey.

I do remember Wilkerson filling in a few times. Also remember Bob Costas doing a few games, maybe late 70's early 80's. Can't recall exactly when

On second thought Costas did a few games in the mid 70's.

One of my most laughable Picardisms was when the game was in the "turd period"!!!

Loved it when he referred to the Blues owner as Sid Da Turd

I remember that every kid whose family even was aware of the blues in the late 60', realized- if they were in, or approaching puberty- how all their mothers seemed to swoon when they saw big Noel, or spoke of him. He was as manly as French-speaking Lumberjack and had a blazing and honest smile.

And it must also be noted that Pic is in what many fans consider to be the most memorable action photograph in Blues history!!! When he sent Bobby Orrr flying horizontally through the air after Orr scored the overtime Cup winning goal against th e Blues!!

Fun stuff!

I was brought home in a Christmas stocking Dec. 24, 1967. (Brothers apparently attempted to return me Dec. 26!)

Although I have no memories of seeing Noel Picard, surely remember him on radio. Did he precede Gus Kyle?
