Series was written and directed by Mackenzie Crook (He played Gareth (Dwight's character) in the British version of The Office) who also stars along with Toby Jones. Series won the 2015 BAFTA for best comedy. Lighthearted with subtle British humor - a good change of pace from the usual dystopian fare.

In 2019, The Guardian ranked Detectorists at number 38 in their list of "The 100 best TV shows of the 21st century"

Show is free to watch on Prime.

Its a sublime dead-pan black comedy. A tender look at a daft little community. Highly recommended.
Detectorists is so much fun!

I stumbled across an old comedic production originally made in the UK and then there was a later American version as well. Both productions are excellent. It’s called Getting On and it’s about nursing on a woman’s hospital ward. It is a black comedy that skewers, egotistical doctors and exposes romantic foils of nurses on the ward. I watched the British version on Prime and can’t remember where I saw the American version.

Right this moment I’m finishing up “line of duty “the British police show that gets an 8.7 on Internet movie database. That is a super high rating. It is very good. It’s been out for several years and it was on my radar, I just never got around to watching it until now.
Season one of Detectorists, at least, is on Youtube :) Here's episode one if you want a taste. I'd forgotten how nice the music was, btw :
Disclaimer: The video above is hosted on Youtube, and has not be reviewed by the staff of the Post-Dispatch.
The actress who plays Becky, Andy's teacher girlfriend, is Rachael Stirling. Rachael's mother IRL is famed actress Dianna Rigg who also plays her mother in the show.
Yes, and Diana’s daughter looks like her

I'm sorta done with TV and refocusing on movies.

Currently watching the new season of Great British Baking Show and may start "Dark." Also may rewatch The Americans with my son, but he may not have the patience for it.

I heard Chief of War may be good but I'll wait to see what my indigenous podcast says about it before checking it out. The trailer wasn't super compelling for me.

Peacemaker. It's so good, I really enjoy it and never knew this is what I needed from a superhero show. John Cena is good, and can play the character so you actually do feel sorry for him, something I never would have imagined after seeing him in Suicide Squad. Highly recommend.

We are watching Limitless. It’s a show about a pill that makes a person super smart while they are taking it. The show focuses on one character who secretly receives a booster making him immune to the side effects. It stars Bradly Cooper, Jennifer Carpenter, Tony Montana’s sister, Jake McDorman, and Hill Harper. It’s silly.

Fun fact: In France, they call Limitless “The Man with Many Capabilities”

Just finished GenV S2... entertaining if unremarkable, and I'm not a prude but between this and The Boys the (donkey)-exploding/penetrating humor stopped being funny like 2 years ago.

Also wife and I caught up on the German time travel series Dark. First two seasons are great and super intriguing, but the final season goes completely off the rails with all the complexities it introduces. Basically makes you stop trying to keep track of anything because it's impossible to keep it straight.

Also Great British Baking show, that's always a pleasant watch.

There’s still two episodes left.

That makes a lot more sense than E6 being the finale

I started The Chair Company on HBO Max. First episode came out on Sunday.

I love Tim Robinson, but he sure is a one-trick pony. Same kind of character from ITYSL and Friendship. Neurotic, weird, cringy. I’ll give him a couple more years until it gets old and we never see him again.

The Lowdown on FX/Hulu is great, I really like it a lot.

I watched I Like Me, the John Candy documentary. Nothing new or earth shattering, but it is definitely worth the watch. As a guy who grew up watching him, and consider Uncle Buck a masterpiece, it brought a tear to my eye. Gone way too soon.

I also watched episode one of The Chair Company and laughed a few times, but I am a Tim Robinson fan. I don't ever see him playing something straight, but I do agree some people will get tired of the same old schtick. Him and Nathan Fielder have cornered the market on that subset of comedy.

Finally got around to starting The Wire a few months ago. Almost through season 4, I’ve been trying to watch one episode a day if I have time.

Top-5 show for me. It was so amazing. I rewatched it a couple of years ago and it is a little bit dated, but still so good. So real. One of my favorite conversations with people is to rank the seasons and then discuss.

For me - 3, 4, 1, 2, 5

3 & 4 could flip flop.

"Resident Alien". I watched season one when it came out in 2021 and thought it was entertaining enough.... didn't even know it continued with a season two, season three, season four; till yesterday..... so I'll be starting from the beginning.
