Under a microscope after one game…..lolMiamiLaw wrote: ↑10 Oct 2025 07:07 amYea the whole team sucked, but you’re insane if you don’t understand why the guy that was the center of the biggest offseason move is going to be under a microscope. Some of you clowns already complaining about Mailloux….freaking comical. He was far from the biggest issue last night and it’s gonna take him some time.
Bolduc sealed his fate against Winnipeg in the playoffs, he was terrible. Blues saw something they didn’t like and decided they could move on from him. It’s going to take Mailloux a couple of years to get him playing like he did in the AHL.
We had chances, we just couldn’t finish. When Justin Faulk and Nathan Walker are your two best players …that’s gonna make for a long night.
Parayko was terrible, nothing from Thomas, Fowler and Buch not good. Not sure if Neighbours even realized this game counted because he brought nothing to the table last night.
Years? We traded Bolduc for a guy that might be serviceable years from now? You just don’t do that…that’s a guy you get for a 2nd or an ok-ish prospect.
He’s serviceable now…he just needs to play.

For all the doomsday posts, at least we are in position to get Gavin McKenna.

Those guys have track records to fall back on (though Jake is starting to worry me a bit honestly as he’s been trending less and less noticeable/impactful for a bit). But LM is going to be judged now and it will only get more intense if Bolduc continues to produce. This is his shot. His first swing was a loud whiff. Hope for better Saturday.

Next season Bolduc will get an extension and could be a big one if he nets more than 25 this year. The Blues are going to extend both Holloway and Broberg the Blues wont be in cap trouble at that point they will use a prospect or two to fill some gaps but they simply didnt have space for Bolduc.MiamiLaw wrote: ↑10 Oct 2025 07:07 amYea the whole team sucked, but you’re insane if you don’t understand why the guy that was the center of the biggest offseason move is going to be under a microscope. The Blues feel like they already have their top 4 wingers set they like Snuggerud more than Bolduc so they dealt Bolduc. Whether or not the trade was good for the Blues as it relates to Mailloux will not be known soon which of course doesnt mesh with sports fan forum characteristics.

Why would any team trade much for Ellis when they knew the Blues would have to waive him thru? The Blues werent trading Hofer or Binnie to keep Ellis, it happens its why the rule is in place.Mr.Snuggleupagus wrote: ↑09 Oct 2025 22:28 pmThe Blues should've explored some trade possibilities with Colton Ellis. I don't think its knee jerk at all.moose-and-squirrel wrote: ↑10 Oct 2025 08:47 am ah.. the knee jerk reactions after ONE game.. predictable
First of all I don't even see anyone saying anything crazy but yes game 1 carries some weight.
We had an off season to get geared up and improve as A team and on an individual level. While its not the end all of everything I personally think how you come out in game 1 is important and it was not good nor was I a big fan of our preseason performance.
I would feel different about that if we had went deep in the playoffs etc. but IMO I team where we are at we should be firing pretty hard in the preseason and to start the NHL season and I didn't see either of those things.
As far as Mailloux, I'm good I am good with letting him develop and I'm glad we have him but you don't trade Bolduc for that IMO. Nor do I think anyone defending it would have made that move.

One of the great things about sports is you get to see how people respond to adversity. Coaches, players, fans. It's fun to sit back and grab some popcorn. Good entertainment.moose-and-squirrel wrote: ↑10 Oct 2025 08:47 am ah.. the knee jerk reactions after ONE game.. predictable
