At some point the arbitrary 8% would become a very well-functioning group.
What if they just brought up the next best person when an opening
either by production or other reasons happened?

My guess the first player or manager tossed would be the one who tells her to take a Midol

Bravo.
Okay, thanks for sharing.
But why bravo? Just curious.
Because it is long past due, that’s why.
Because the sexist walls continue to crumble. And that’s something to celebrate.
Why is it long overdue?

why is any specific gender, in any arena of business, supposed to be guaranteed a job in that arena?

I don't care personally, doesn't effect me in anyway shape or form, but what difference does it make?
who said anything about a guarantee ?
By stating that it is long overdue, it is essentially stating that there needs to be a woman umpire.

Use whatever definition you want
So what you’re saying is though baseball has been around for 150+ years, it’s simply a coincidental statistical anomaly that there has never been a woman umpire?

Cool.
Nothing coincidental about it. It is a man's sport. That doesn't mean that's wrong. Simply fact.
Since when is it a man's sport. We had girls in little league
Ummmmm pretty much since the beginning of game.

Not really arguing anything. Just said that baseball has traditionally been a man's sport, which it has. No argument here.

Some would say umpires do play as the other night in a Braves game , an announcer said 'The umpires 'played ' a big role in the outcome of tonight's game.
So maybe indirectly they do play in every game.

It all about destroying the Patriarchy and really nothing to do with Equality. They feel there’s no difference in the sexes and that Males(mostly white)have been scourge of humanity since the beginning of time…these are the same crew that cheer on pregnant women in combat.
YAY equality…..er equity for all…..Every woman should have the same opportunity as a man to get a limb blown off in some chithole overseas….
I've read enough of your posts to know you are stupid (anyone who repeatedly uses elipses doesn't know how to write), but now I see you're also a [shirt]ty woman hater. There's no reason to believe men are inherently better umpires than women. The only reason there hasn't been a woman umpire before now is the backwards thinking you just exhibited. It's not about being guaranteed a job. It's about opportunity. Not a difficult concept.

Well. She’s a woman of the world and god she knows. She turns my head every time she shows it. Nothing you can do. Nothing you can say. No way you can try to change her ways. She might be gone tomorrow. Honey what are you gonna do.

Aerosmith.
