Big advocate to moving him to third base. Nado will be gone in off season, and JJ is too talented for second, plus a huge black hole comes open at third. All reasons why he plays there.

It’s been since Rolen in my opinion as to a stud third baseman. It’s been awhile since there was a Brett type third baseman.
What comes around goes around. That works both ways.
Finally, if JJ sniffs Brett’s career, we are all n good shape/
Chase Utley
That's the most likely.
Was he ever the face of baseball?
Because that's my prediction for JJ
Utley was/is a borderline Hall of Fame 2nd baseman:
259 HR
1025 RBI
.275 .358 .465 .823
ONLY an Albert-like talent will ever be the face of baseball playing for the Cardinals but I hope you're right bully!

We’ve been burned before.
Exactly. Law of averages say we are due. Can’t think badly here. Gotta hope for an offensive decent defensive player. One hole filled.
And I had Walker as the next Clemente. But that’s my mental issue.
The Law of Averages? You mean the Gamblers Fallacy? Maybe you should avoid Vegas, Bulldog.
JJ at 2B. JJ at 3B. Either is a plus. We have not seen JJ's arm yet.
Donovan can play 3B too. Or get traded for one.
Try Herrera at 3B. Or Walker? Law of Averages says at least one of dese bums will be decent.
Nolan Arenado called to ask, "How do you like me now?!?"
No. The law of averages says no such thing
Law of Averages is mostly a colloquialism and statistical fallacy that is misapplied. I am not an Actuary. You probably are. I am just an engineer and not Captain America. I've gotta go to work and can't do this all day. So I forfeit on this branch of the thread.
BUT, ... we are headed into Yadier Molina Catcher Syndrome.
None of these guys are Nolan Arenado nor Scott Rolen. To quote Popeye, they "ams what they am." Just give them some spinach-k and see what happens.
PS. When was the last time the Cardinals developed a quality home-grown third baseman. My failing memory goes all the way back to Terry Pendleton. Would you be happy if JJ turned into Todd Zeile? He did have a 19 WAR career.
The Cardinals may just not be good at drafting and developing all star 3B.
Way to misapply. Now get back to work, sanitation engineer. My trash doesn't empty itself

You are right. Been forever. That’s why it’s exciting to speculate, because this opportunity has been few and far in between. It’s a hope thread- Ha.
And the title of the thread is Shady-esque. Which means I may have missed the joke. Touché.
I only get my own jokes here and they're friggin hilarious. Just ask me.
Yea. I can see the similarities. My title might should have been- is JJ capable of Brett like numbers.
Why does everyone disparage this Shady person?
They do it to me too.
Just voicing an opinion and get berated like that.
Ridiculous.
Everybody has their own style, Bully. You do you.
Shady gets flack for repeatedly starting multiple threads on the same topic. If he gave himself just 1 ticket a day to start threads, people would probably leave him be.
Melville's persona is funny but grates on many here. Everybody "ams who they am" on an anonymous board. I don't take anything here to seriously.
I’m not a fan of a formula-driven team makeup, where a batters performance dictates where he plays on the field. There’s been good teams that had their best hitter playing SS or 2B, for example.
You need to design your field players where they play the best. Pitching and defense will keep many teams competitive , where offense often fails
As for JJ, if 2B is his best position, play him there. Donovan, for one, can slide over to 3b if ndvsssary.
But let’s not get crazy. He can’t chew Brett like tobacco, get hemorrhoids in the WS and [shirt] himself at the bellagio. Triple crown threats don’t grow on trees.

That would be a let down. I'm expecting Mike Schmidt.

JJ Wetherholt only takes perfect, double tapered [censored]. We better trade him.

I just hope he's not our next Adam Kennedy.
He can be Adam Kennedy all day long if he can return another Jim Edmonds in a deal.
Seriously, his amateur performance dwarfs AKs as does his brief MiLB stint thus far. AK was a 2oth pick and JJW was 7th, but rated by many as a top 3 guy.
FWIW, though, many players would kill to have a career like AKs.

I think JJ has the potential to be Brett like, but I will be surprised if Bloom will be able to move Arenado this winter. Which means Arenado will probably be the starting 3B in 2026. Once Bloom can’t move Arenado I then see him moving Donovan to open spot for JJ at 2B and get other pieces the team needs and or prospects.
