Miles said other than a couple big thumps that he was pretty solid.

Finishing the season with Stubby makes a ton of sense

Oh come on. This isn't a great team but Oli costs them 5 games or so a year.
He may cost them 5 a year. But no top notch manager is looking to work with a roster with this rotation, very little power, and a fluid roster.
Oli has had a more than decent shot at this.

That's how the cookie crumbles.

In comes Bloom.

Out goes Oli.

It's the right time for early off season.
Im not opposed to this. But if oli is canned now, who finishes the season? Clapp? Jay?
As I said, I think after the season, early off season.

This is of course if the team can't pull off the turn around which is my main point in waiting plus there might be more candidates available then than now.

If they get swept in Colorado I would fire him, but the Cardinals won't. Not their style.

If they fire Oli (doubtful), then Stubby or Descalso is interim and they have their choice of candidates in the off season.

Disagree with this take.

I believe Bloom will fire Marmol (deserved) and will hire from outside the organization.

Or at least that’s what I hope.

Once the idiot Mozeliak is gone I think some guys would like to manage this team.

Agree, their style is a Loser…..
Losers lose
Losers make excuses
Why they’ve become Losers after being Winners is the mystery for the last decade

D-backs are so far and away more talented than St Louis it's not close. Better run organization. D-backs are dealing with major pitching injuries. They still swept this pathetically run Cardinal organization. Cardinal pitching is worn out. Weak arms weak stamina and weak talent. Cardinals will not sniff post season!

The most credible way to evaluate a poor manager is: does the talent on the roster justify more wins than what the team currently has? There’s no way you can say that about this roster.
Managers like Pat Murphy or AJ Hinch don’t grow on trees…

Just because the team sucks doesn’t mean they should keep a manager who sucks also
I agree. But you aren't upgrading during a rebuild. And this one looks like a 3 year project.
I would prefer a guy who is good at developing young players and teaching fundamentals to the younger players. At this point I would prefer stubby clapp over hey let’s just let oli keep the job even though he’s done nothing to deserve to keep it just because it’s a three year project
Im not advocating keeping oli. I cant stand him. But I don't see him fired during this season. And I think the team keeps him for next.

Dewitt's Dad traded his manager for another manager in 1960.

Oh I know he won’t be fired this season I would be very surprised if bloom keeps him next season though. Bloom will won’t to put his fingerprints on the team and hiring his own manager will be the first step in doing that. Keeping oli would be just a continuation of mo

The proper course of action is to relieve Marmol of his duties and attempt to appoint an interim manager who can help change the culture of accountability. A guy who isn't trying to be one of the guys. Someone who believes in fundamentals and fairly offers constructive criticism of his players when needed can have difficult conversations with his players when needed. A manager who knows how to properly lead and manage men.

Oli is not the guy, and these next few months are important in building back the culture for 2026 and beyond.
