Yup. I’d be curious to know what Stan Bowman really thought of their UFA signings last summer. He took over as GM a few weeks afterwards. They were Jeff Jackson moves.DIAMONDINTHEROUGH wrote: ↑22 Jun 2025 17:06 pmToo bad they wasted money on J Skinner instead. A healthy Holloway would have been a bigger add for Edmonton. They really needed a guy like him, particularly after Hyman went down.

Broberg doesn’t even move the needle a little bit against them. To think otherwise is just being naive.

I really doubt Jeff Skinner is the the N next year. He literally played his way out of the league this postseason. Somebody might take a flyer on him, but it won't be for the number he's going to command.bluetunehead wrote: ↑22 Jun 2025 17:19 pmYup. Broberg was a +9 in the series playing 22 minutes a game. If Buchnevich doesn't ice the puck, the game is over. Broberg isn’t the scapegoat you make him out to be.theograce wrote: ↑22 Jun 2025 17:23 pmEven if it was it wouldn’t matter. Bob Stauffer said on his show Holland was instructed to get both signed during the season. And refused to sign either.bluetunehead wrote: ↑22 Jun 2025 17:19 pmYup. Nobody remembers the ifs in sports … maybe the losers. If Helly didn’t let in all those muffins … the Jets win in 5 or 6 … say Jets fans.DIAMONDINTHEROUGH wrote: ↑23 Jun 2025 02:03 amBroberg was a +9 in the series playing 22 minutes a game. Not really. The Blues Reddit community if full of users today that still believe the 1995 - 96 team wins the Stanley Cup if Kypreos didn't run into Fuhr. Despite have a losing record and negative goal differential. And every one is certain that he would have stopped the Yzerman blast in Game 7.theograce wrote: ↑23 Jun 2025 02:09 amNobody remembers the ifs in sports … maybe the losers. Bucky has sucked for years in the playoffs. No one gives him the benefit of the doubt amymore.

Re: Oilers: Biggest Fraud in SCF history
If the Oilers matched Broberg they would not have had to go out and trade for Walman.
That cost them a 1st rounder in 26.
That pick would have been nice to have at next years TDL to improve their team.
The Oilers have a lot of guys entering their walk years besides McDavid:
Ekholm, Kane, Arvidsson, Walman, Henrique, Kulak, Skinner, Pickard & Podkolzin.
That's about 29 million coming off the books next year at this time when presumably McDavid's new contract kicks in.
The Oilers will try to off load some of those guys this summer, but next year is the year when they'll have more flexibility but many more holes to fill.
How much does Bouchard sign for?

Meanwhile his boi crush Conner McDavid scored 1 goal and was -7 in a six game Final, coming up small on the biggest stage yet again.DIAMONDINTHEROUGH wrote: ↑23 Jun 2025 02:03 amBroberg was a +9 in the series playing 22 minutes a game. Re: Oilers: Biggest Fraud in SCF history
If they extend Bouchard (which they likely will) and McDavid(you have to expect they will) to close to market value, so let's say 9 and 15 million respectively, that gives them 8 players with 43 million to fill 15 positions with. Good luck.TheHighHat wrote: ↑23 Jun 2025 05:41 am If the Oilers matched Broberg they would not have had to go out and trade for Walman.
