...Card's hits were there...the timing of them wasn't. 12 hits should produce more than 1 run in a game. Cards 0-for-8 with RISP, with 13 runners LOB... I attribute some of this to "road fatigue," but it is what it is... A 7-2 road trip is pretty good...would take that every time...

Yeah years ago we use to call those “plastic homers” cause they meant nothing to the outcome of the game.MIDMOBIRDTWO wrote: ↑Never has. I thought that was the plan this year, play these young guys and see what you have or don’t have. NA can’t hit in the clutch

This loss the same as the Philly loss.

7-2 road trip and 12 hits with only 1 run are both amazing feats!
As long as today doesn't become a trend... because if they made all this noise just to have yet another May-June collapse like the last 2 seasons ...
That would be unpleasant.

Especially with 6 of the 9 being Philly and the Royals.

That game was sad. Too many similarities to teams of old that had reoccurring issues with stranding runners on.
Luckily they won game 1 and 2 and go home after a pretty great roadtrip. Detroit tomorrow will continue the recent testing of the team. Those Tigers do have the best record in baseball and all that.
Hopefully Sonny's last start was a hiccup.
Go Cards

Good game, you win some you lose some. Just keep pounding out those 12 hit games with extra base hits, solid starts and good bullpen work along with solid D. Going to win a lot more of those than lose. Good to see Wacha do well, I always liked him, he was a good Cardinal.
Take your Arenado hate to shuttytown fools! When Booby Witt Jr. gets all grown up he wishes to have Arenado stats.

That's why Sabermetrics have shown the #2 in order is the best place for a top hitter. Lot of at bats (not as many as No. 1 but more chance to drive in a run in the 1st inning too.icon wrote: ↑18 May 2025 15:40 pmYep. Lineups can and do matter. You want more PAs for your best hitters.Futuregm2 wrote: ↑18 May 2025 15:39 pmExactly it’s stupid to bat Herrera 6th and Nado 4th. Seldom does a close game get down to the 6th hitter late in the game, but more often you can see 3/4 up in the 9th with the game on the line.MIDMOBIRDTWO wrote: ↑18 May 2025 15:36 pmOne reason to swap him with Herrera, this game can be over with him not getting a chance to hit.

This loss is on the offense that didnt hit.Take your stupid Ollie hate and shove it. I am tired of it. It is lazy. You people sound like idiots.CrownRoyalCaramel wrote: ↑18 May 2025 15:38 pm This loss is on Oli. He just continues to do the same (bleep) and NEVER LEARNS. Keep your pop up machine in the cleanup spot. Keep throwing a horrific pitcher into high leverage spots where he chokes. Does he learn? Nope, not ever. I’m fed up with the little midget. End of year, Oli needs to go.

Correct ..today was example of No. 6 batter got the one less plate appearance for the order did not get to his spot at the end of the game.icon wrote: ↑18 May 2025 15:38 pmAnd that's where the lineup can make a big difference. PAs. NA got 1 more than Herrera, and that shouldn't be happening.MIDMOBIRDTWO wrote: ↑18 May 2025 15:36 pmOne reason to swap him with Herrera, this game can be over with him not getting a chance to hit.
Unsure of the math, but think with the remaining no. of games .. Herrera at 6th will get about 40 less plate appearances than Arenado at 4th spot.

This isn't about Arenado hate. It's about properly employing him. I guess you think he's a fine cleanup hitter? Wake me up when Arenado returns to HOF hitting form. It's been a long while now.Ike Hammett wrote: ↑18 May 2025 16:20 pm Good game, you win some you lose some. It’s not hate to believe a .243 .703 OPS defensive specialist shouldn’t be batting cleanup. It’s dumb to think he should continue to hit clean upIke Hammett wrote: ↑18 May 2025 16:20 pm Good game, you win some you lose some. BWAAAAHAHAHA!!! That defensive specialist averages 32 home runs, 108 rbi, .853 ops 120 ops+ is a multiple time all star, multiple top 10 MVP top 3 just 2 years ago, plays everyday and got 2 hits today.Ozziesfan41 wrote: ↑18 May 2025 16:58 pmIt’s not hate to believe a .243 .703 OPS defensive specialist shouldn’t be batting cleanup.
