So, Walker drives in the winning run and then sits? How many at bats has Gorman gotten in the last 10 days?craviduce wrote: ↑18 May 2025 10:11 am CARDINALS (26-20)

All this talk Oli has learned? Dude just got a shot of momentum, and you cool him down/ huge strategy mistake. Maybe Walker partied late last night after hitting the HR and had ‘headache’ this morning.OldRed wrote: ↑18 May 2025 10:13 amSo, Walker drives in the winning run and then sits? How many at bats has Gorman gotten in the last 10 days?craviduce wrote: ↑18 May 2025 10:11 am CARDINALS (26-20)

Gorman at bats ? Count them on one hand
With Donovan shining at 2nd so not playing some in LF, Gorman had lost chances for playing time.

Still a slave to the L/R matchup. I don't mind as Burly's been hitting well and FWIW Wacha's been good this season.sikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑18 May 2025 10:17 amAll this talk Oli has learned? Speaking of Wacha, I can't be the only one who thinks he looks so much like Waino they could be siblings, can I?
When they were both starters for STL their pitching stances and windup were so identical I had to look close to differentiate between the 2.

or... you let him feel good about himself and confident.. that being said, I don't see Wacha as the type of pitcher (sweeping breaking balls) that would give Walker fitssikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑18 May 2025 10:17 amAll this talk Oli has learned? It used to be, I remember Jack speaking of it, that you ride the hot horse into the ground. Then rest. Never cool a hot player. Sitting changes the mindset. What ever was in walkers mind needs to stay there. Maybe he gets a pinch hit opportunity.

I know you’re a ball player. You come to the clubhouse after hat game on a high. Game face city. You can’t buy that level of natural intensity- focus.moose-and-squirrel wrote: ↑18 May 2025 10:27 amor... you let him feel good about himself and confident.. that being said, I don't see Wacha as the type of pitcher (sweeping breaking balls) that would give Walker fitssikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑18 May 2025 10:17 amAll this talk Oli has learned? And you sit. This is a product of timing- Oli had this lineup in mind several days ago, but suddenly one of the pieces got hot. He failed to adjust his plan.

not sure Walker is 'hot' just because he ran into one last night. that being said, he IS making more contact, which is the 1st stepsikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑18 May 2025 10:33 amI know you’re a ball player. I'm not sure a manager that has what.. 12 wins out of the last 13?.. is the problem
Re: GDT : Cards @ Royals (5/18) ~ 1:10pm CDT
While it’d be nice to see Walker after hitting a HR yesterday I like that Oli is going full throttle and not sitting any of the good regulars when going for the sweep. Statistically this is the best offensive lineup we can put out there.

Not the manager. His decision. Again for Walker, we must consider this hot. He is doing more with the bat. We must ride it, not cover it.moose-and-squirrel wrote: ↑18 May 2025 10:36 amnot sure Walker is 'hot' just because he ran into one last night. that being said, he IS making more contact, which is the 1st stepsikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑18 May 2025 10:33 amI know you’re a ball player. I think you ride the hot hand, hot being subjective.

I hate it. If Walker never plays against righties, might as well trade him today. Same with Gorman.craviduce wrote: ↑18 May 2025 10:11 am CARDINALS (26-20)

Why not give NADO a game off and let Gorman play third while giving Contreras a rest and letting Walker get another start.
Might as well trade these guys if you're not going to play them. Or send them to Memphis.
