The only reason this is coming up at all is because there is media buzz and stuff being stirred up about him because he has a NTC kicking in July 1.
I don’t know what more people want out of JK.
The guy has made improvements to his game every single year since the Blues were in the cellar. I think this season he was amazing down the stretch. I’m pretty sure the Holloway Schenn Kyrou line was one of the best in the entire league during the 19-3-4 run.
People talk about line pairs….well Holloway and Kyrou is probably this team’s deadliest pair and everyone wants to break it up.
Nuts.
It's coming up because Kyrou had a miserable playoff series and was obviously not playing hard. Until I see that he had a real injury that could keep a player of his abilities from hustling and battling for pucks.... he is not of much use to me, or to the Blues.
They are the deadliest line combo on the team whenever they are together. They do things together (with Schenn watching the back door) that I haven't seen from two Bues forwards since Perron and Oshie.
It is growing increasingly difficult, to watch Kyrou- without Holloway- give up on the North South philosophy that got them into the playoffs. Stopping rushes at the opponent's blue line to try and make a play, or making a scared last second pass that gets picked off or dribbles ten feet into the zone. Losing the puck on the boards,,,often in Big Moments or in Big Games.
It appears the only way JK can begin to reach his full potential is with Holloway. He inspires, and possibly shames him into giving his all.
What if Holloway leaves after next season?
We have a glaring example of wasted potential on our books and in our locker rooms and on the ice and on the bench for four more years.
I have seen enough hockey and seen enough of Kyrou to abhor that scenario.
He was a boat anchor at even strength without Holloway this year. I could see a Brandon Saad scenario if Holloway leaves.
For his time here, he has shown great offensive numbers and has done well as a "team-first" player... only with Holloway.
He has also been one of the most spoiled and entitled players I have seen in a Blues uniform. Also- one of the least , motivated.
