I cant compare Broberg at 23 to guys who were able to play younger. Had Broberg been a Blue and not an Oiler we would have most likely seen him sooner as the Blues develop prospects much better.
I thought pietrangelo was ready a year before he secured a spot.

At the end of the day you can speculate and so can I. Doesn’t mean anything. Broberg is very soft and awkward in his body during physicality. He could have worked on that.

The Blues develop prospects much better? No they don’t really. A lot depends on teams and where they are at/what they have/goals etc. as we saw with Dunn and others.
Has AP won a Norris? How many HOF dmen have not won a Norris curious
He’s going to the HOF. Nobody is curious about that.

Nice deflection
I was generally curious as i have said many many times AP was one of my all time favorite Blues not sure why you are so obsessed on the subject. To me a HOFer seems like a bit of a reach for AP idk. At any one point he was 10-15 best dmen in the NHL is that HOF level? A Norris would help. Stevens won a Conn Smythe that i do recall and 3 Cups.

Don't waste your time with the clown.
"Anyone else disappointed with Broberg thus far" is somewhat redundant coming from the resident troll.
He hasn't liked him from day one and never misses an opportunity to call him out on what he perceives as a potential weakness.
Broberg is fine. He is young, and if anyone thinks he will not improve over the next 3 years they are clueless.

Obsessed? At one point he was top 10-15? Well, he led the entire NHL in assists when your favorite team won the cup. He has more ES assists in the playoffs than Lidstrom. He has as many/more blocked shots in both the playoffs and regular season as anyone. He’s won at every level and was picked with Crosby and McDavid. Led in ice time on 2 cup teams. Cup winning goal as well. Leadership throughout career. His regular season and playoff numbers are outstanding and he’s been durable.

I agree with theo's case for Pietrangelo in the hall.
A reference point is how comfortable as a fan did I feel having this player as its support beam? and the answer is I Ioved it.
His defensive stick and ability to interrupt rushes at the blue line was so high end.
He was a complete two way defenseman. You wanted him on the ice at the end of a tough game.
I also appreciated how he raised his game throughout the 2010s in the playoffs. You could count on him.
(I give every human being the same pass on the covid year on this topic, across humanity not just sport.)
When the Kings targeted him in 2012 he learned from that and did not let McDavid & Draisaitl do it to him.
The winning is truly what matters, not the consensus opinion of writers. Actually winning the thing.

As a defenseman primarily known for elite defensive attributes, he is now 41st all time scoring among defensemen and he'll easily be in the 30s next year. For reference Chris Pronger is #31 all time.

incidentally Parayko did not lead the team in ATOI in 2019. Pietrangelo led two different franchises in ice time to their first Cup. Pretending that Parayko was better, who then we literally saw step into Petro's shoes and did not fill them, for years, which is why we were not a playoff team ... Parayko not being better than Pietrangelo is a layup argument. I love Parayko too.

I have to ask, why not just open a thread on Pietrangelo? Why go through all the nonsense on Broberg to cover your intentions, a guy who doesn't deserve all that rot?

Broberg has been soft and not good. 14 minutes of ES time. Poor reads … getting out muscled, bad, soft passes.

Let’s get back to that…since you comment in this thread so much.

Facts? 14 mins of ES time. 0 shots in 2 games? 0 hits. 1 blocked shot. Soft. Soft outlet passes.

He did not. Petro led, averaging 25:45/night. Parayko was at 25:07 and Bouw at 23:30. Edmundson was a distant 4th at 16:32.

That said, I’m simply presenting facts here. I for one appreciated Petro when he was here but we don’t need to rehash another Theo/bleeder Petro thread.

But as for his HHOF credentials, I consider him borderline. But he’s won 2 Cups and led both of those Cup teams in ATOI, was captain of one and asst captain of the other. In fact, he’s the only player in NHL history to lead two separate franchises in ATOI to a Cup (both teams first Cup wins to boot). He has at least as good of a resume as Shea Weber IMO so for that, I’d probably say he eventually gets in. But he’s borderline IMO.

Parayko/Jaybo led EVTOI and DZone % starts this pairing was the shut down pair if i recall
You recall correctly. Petro ATO was higher because of his PP time.
Jbow and Parayko were studs the entire 2019 run and they were the #1 pair.
Don't get me wrong...Petro was fantastic too....but Berube played Parayko and JBow when things needed to be shutdown that entire postseason.
That run continued until JBow's unfortunate heart issue caused his retirement.
