So he got worse when he was paired with Faulk by the Blues? Because he sure was good in last years Finals and then he started this year on fire 20+ min a night, gets hurt come back and gets paired with Faulkner and is now worse at 23??? Makes zero sense
Anyone disappointed in Broberg thus far?

It’s a faster different game now. It’s not about getting worse … it’s about being able to adjust and match. Why is hive down? It’s the currency among players and coachesHarry S Deals wrote: ↑22 Apr 2025 19:49 pmSo he got worse when he was paired with Faulk by the Blues? It's faster than the Finals last year? The issue with Broberg is he's stuck with Faulk he's played fine. He's a bit inexperienced but we've seen him play very well already so the potential is obvioustheograce wrote: ↑22 Apr 2025 20:21 pmIt’s a faster different game now. He wasn’t some phenom last year. He scored a couple goals. Does it bug you that I would have liked to see a bit more development? He plays soft and weak right now. 14 mins at ES last game.Harry S Deals wrote: ↑22 Apr 2025 20:44 pmIt's faster than the Finals last year? I mean check your bias. You were talking about him being the best dman since Pronger…pretty clear there’s an agenda there

Yep
68GP 8g 21as 29 pts +21 20:30 this kid is going to be very very good for STL. This stat line while being stuck with the boat anchor that is Faulk, best young dman since Pronger. You betcha i'll be right here to remind you next season

I'm agreeing he's not been the assertive, silky attacking player we've seen prior glimpses of, but we also saw the variation within the season.theograce wrote: ↑22 Apr 2025 11:21 amMine aren’t either. Good topic though, fair for discussion.
What do you think of the possibility of adding a piece somewhere along the way the way the Bruins added Lindholm a few years ago? I completely share the frustration of NMC unwillingness and acknowledge the flaw in this mention is Lindholm got in Boston what he wouldn't here. But maybe they can acquire a player still in RFA mode. They kinda have to go this route now, right? If it were up to you, who would you make available and who would you target?
That question is for anyone by the way.

Helpful? What exactly is this thread "helping"? It's a blog! None of us can "help" anything about this series.
In terms of understanding what is happening, are you "helping" when I have to point out that you're questioning the play of one of the best players on the ice at even strength?
Yep this has gone on all season here
Circumstances change but its the same old tune
"Disappointing" for a young player who is key to their success

Dude played more minutes in more games at a higher level than he ever has before. It could be that he's wearing down a bit and, if so, will be a good opportunity to make adjustments to his conditioning.
So no, definitely not disappointed.

Pretty sure Edmonton would love to have Broberg back.

2012-2013 (23 yrs old) Pietrangelo xGoals .17 Goals per 60 = .14
2024-2025 (23 yrs old) Broberg xGoals .21 Goals per 60 = .34
Again time will tell its very hard to compare two different dmen (quality of roster, quality of d partners, etc) but Im seeing Broberg become a very nice LHD likely top pair 35-50pt guy for the Blues
Re: Anyone disappointed in Broberg thus far?
Dunn was even better and/or comparable at his age guy.
That’s funny

Re: Anyone disappointed in Broberg thus far?
Pronger was not just a #1 defenseman but one of the best the game has ever seen.
Broberg is not a #1 defenseman. If you expect him to be then yes you'd have to acknowledge he falls far far short of being a #1 right now.
You can project confidence that he's going to be but it's speculation, it could go plenty of ways.
When Pronger was Broberg's current age it was 97-98 and Pronger was averaging 25 min a game.
When Pietrangelo was Broberg's current age he was averaging over 26 min a game.
When Pietrangelo was in his first full year 09-10 he was at 22 min a game.
Broberg is still a really good young defenseman who I'm glad we have. He's around 20 min on avg.

Pietrangelo was playing 26-30 mins some nights in playoffs at Broberg’s age. He’s a HOFer.seattleblue wrote: ↑23 Apr 2025 11:33 am Pronger was not just a #1 defenseman but one of the best the game has ever seen.
