I haven't seen him pitch this spring. bbref rates the quality of batters he's faced between AA and AAA but that's just a marker. Based on the quality of his work last year he deserves a spot in the rotation imo. It's not as if he'll be taking starts from anyone appreciably better.

Agreed. His opponents rating (7.5) is slightly below Fedde (8.0), Mikolas (7.7), and Gray (7. and ahead of Pallante (6.7) and Matz (7.1). I’m not sure how much stock to put into that anyways though.

But between 2024 MLB and spring training he has a 1.59 ERA and 0.71 WHIP over 39.2 IP. I’m not sure how much more he has to do to get a spot in the rotation.

I would favor a 6 man rotation and decide via performance who to back out over time. Pretty sure Matthews fits in a rotation spot as well, but feel we should let him excel in Memphis for a while.

I’d hope that by June 1st the rotation is Gray, Fedde, Pallante, McGreevy, and Mathews.

Agree, although as someone else posted....I’d go with the trade deadline date instead of June 1st.
Since I highly doubt either Matz or Mikolas are back next year best case scenario would see them moving them at the deadline for something.
Since 2025 is basically an “evaluation” year then a month or so is not that big of a deal.

I’m thinking he’s a starter and needs to to start. This is an attempt to keep him stretched out.

He will be up soon enough. The real question is- once up, does he stay up.

It’s a shame when a roster announcement has you hoping for an injury which we know will happen sooner or later anyway.

But when that entry happened, it needs to be McGreevy not Libby added to the rotation

Libby needs to replace Kitt as the setup man.
