Meniscus surgery. Will be out for awhile.

No Steele, no Horton, no Boyd....no problem (so far).

They are going to miss that 6.00 ERA in their rotation.

No worries - they can slug their way to overcome their weak pitching - at least at Wiggley. They are 17-5 at home, only 8-7 on the road. Even Carson Kelly is batting .311/.404/.424/.826.....

3 straight walk off victories vs the 0 for May Reds.

I read an article yesterday that stated they have a killer offense and a stellar defense.

Kelly does this a lot. He’s the king of the first half. His career OPS in the first half is .775, career OPS in the second half is .632. Great player to get for the first half and trade in July.

His career has skyrocketed since going to the cubs. One of many mediocre players whose offensive stats improved tremendously playing half their games at the friendly confines.

Did you hear how it happened ? I did this morning on MLB Radio.
Reported it happened at home when he was playing with his kids .. went down to his knees doing whatever and raised up according to Manager Counsell.

A torn meniscus repair usually is 4 week recovery time period . Some of us 'normal ' people take longer but these pro athletes have full time trainers in the clubhouse that give them therapy (often multiple times in a day ) that will make the recovery a bit faster than Joe Blow who doesn't have all the high tech equipment etc.

Not sure I would say “skyrocketed”. He had a couple solid years with the Diamondbacks, too. He had 2 really good months last year and then was [shirt]ty the rest of the season. He had a 1.347 OPS in April and a .951 OPS in July. His next best month was a .676 OPS in September. 2 of the months were well below .600.

Per Statcast, Wrigley has a 3-year rolling park factor of 95, ranking it 27th in MLB over that period. So far in 2026, it has a park factor of 98, 17th in MLB. Wrigley doesn’t play like the extreme hitters’ park some people think it is.

It’s 350+ ft down both lines, collectively the deepest, but a little shallow to center at 400. But when the wind blows out . . .

Yes, he had two good seasons in Arizona - 2019 and 2021. He sucked in 2022-24 - .221/.293/.341/.634.

The distance to the basket in the front part of the left center "well" is less than 360 ft. and the same area in right center is about 360. The true center field is not marked and is less than 390 with the basket sticking out. Wrigley has very little foul territory in play, which greatly reduces foul outs. It is an extreme hitters' park, unless the wind is blowing in hard.

Check out the numbers of Rick Monday, Adolfo Phillips, Jim Hickman, Jose Cardenal to see how playing at Wiggley improved their offensive numbers. Check out the home and away numbers of Ron Santo and Ryne Sandberg to see how Wiggley helped their power numbers.
