What's the deal on Nootbaar?
Is he tradable in the off season? Or will he have to take up a spot in the Cardinals' outfield until he's proven healthy? IMO, there's only room for either Walker or Nootbaar for one corner outfield spot going into '26.

Re: What's the deal on Nootbaar?
I've read the Dodgers are very interested in acquiring Nootbaar. Not sure if it's in the off season or later.
Re: What's the deal on Nootbaar?
He should be dealt.
He is a yearly underachiever normally due to injury.
Last year he was reasonably healthy for once and did not produce.
Now he is hurt again so his trade value is in the dumper.
Might as well keep him and pray he finally does something.

Correct. Why do so many want to trade guys at their lowest possible value? We’re not going to get anything at all for him right now anyway. If by some small miracle he gets healthy and plays up to his supposed potential, he becomes more exponentially more valuable in several ways. You can always give him away a little later down the road if he doesn’t recover some value.
Re: What's the deal on Nootbaar?
With the way that he was running for a portion of the season I thought that he was protecting himself in order
to prove that he could stay on the field. Turns out he may have been playing through 2 bad heels
Either way he doesn't stay healthy.

Mostly for myself it falls under doing the same thing and expecting different results, fatigue.CorneliusWolfe wrote: ↑28 Dec 2025 20:59 pmCorrect. If Bloom gets a good offer, Nootbaar will be traded. If there is not a satisfactory offer, Nootbaar will be in the StL lineup once healthy.

I completely get that as I’m pretty tired of him too, and if we were on the verge of real contention, I’d say ship him out because it could risk a potentially good season. Seeing that is not the case at the moment, I think we can afford to wait until the next trade deadline and see if he surprises. Not like we have a Wetherholt-level OF prospect banging on the door right now.renostl wrote: ↑28 Dec 2025 21:43 pmMostly for myself it falls under doing the same thing and expecting different results, fatigue.CorneliusWolfe wrote: ↑28 Dec 2025 20:59 pmCorrect. I have more fatigue with the single tool players
anyway. When they don't bring it they tend to lose games

Re: What's the deal on Nootbaar?
To be fair, often we want to do it because they won't trade them when their value is high. I wanted to trade Nootbaar 2 years ago. That seems like hindsight, so I will tell you, this would be a great time to trade Burleson, but they won't. You know when that will mentioned? When his value is lower. We shouldn't trade him now because ____________.CorneliusWolfe wrote: ↑28 Dec 2025 20:59 pmCorrect. Why do so many want to trade guys at their lowest possible value?
