It's nice that Saggese is getting a good look

Despite struggling, at times. Marmol has stuck with him. He could be a good one in the future. I've read that he's going to get some work in the outfield in spring training. Good move to increase his versatility.

So what. Saggese had a much needed, big game tonite.

He reminds me of Jimmie Foxx out there

Agreed- mentioned this the other day on another post - give him all the playing time you can the balance of the season so he gets a chance to develop and the Cards can see what they’ve got.

Great idea to give him some OF work in ST - solid player who has the makings of a super utility player - right handed Danny D - starts 2-3 days a week on the infield- might be a bit early to judge but he doesn’t seem to have the pop or defensive consistency to be a full time starter - so far - perhaps that will change as the season progresses.

Not a knock on him- just a season to date observation.

I think Saggese reminds of a Tommy Edmunds type. He will be a valuable player moving forward.

He should work on switch hitting in spring training, then he could be Foxx right handed and Johnny Mize left handed. Awesome!

He had a good minor league year 2 years ago, so sure give him a look. But, he has a 4% walk rate and a 30% K rate with no power. I don't really see how that plays long term. Further, he is not a very good fielder. To be honest, I would rather see the playing time go to Fermin.

"Well, my last repetitive Burleson thread went over like a lead balloon. Wait a minute, Saggese had a good game, I'll go back to beating thar drum. That will really show those malcontent gangbanging Cards Talk nitwits. Shady, you son of a gun!"
