200 IP
Will there be one pitcher with 200 innings pitched this season? Last season 4 pitchers made the 200+ IP threshold.
It’s July 28th and there is 1 pitcher with 140+ IP, which is Garrett Crochet. Beyond him there are only 5 more pitchers with at least 130 IP. It would take a really solid 2 months of starts from those guys to get there.

150 is the new 200. I thought it was funny after fedde was traded I looked him up on baseball reference and saw he was still tied for the league in shutouts with 1 lol the games changed a lot
Re: 200 IP
Sometimes wonder how guys ever got there Post the Advent of the 5 Man rotations.
With a 5 Man staff you might only get 30-32 starts. 30 starts of basically 7 innings a start. Haven't seen many of those in seemingly forever.

Jeff Suppan used to be a shoo in for 200IP.
I kinda miss those days. I find the "five and dive" very uninspiring.

Also miss the pitching whisperer managers who simply had a knack for knowing when to go get em and when to leave em alone.
That decision making has largely been removed through the game. Pitch count, times through the order etc etc has provided a lot of cover for the clueless managers of today.

Without looking it up I'd bet he will be the only pitcher this decade to throw a 110 pitch complete game with a 10 run lead.Ozziesfan41 wrote: ↑28 Jul 2025 17:07 pm 150 is the new 200. Re: 200 IP
I don’t think it’s for the better at all. It’s not like less pitchers are getting hurt. It makes it harder on hitters as well since the relievers are coming in fresh in the middle to late innings. That creates less action IMO since generally speaking relievers are better at striking out hitters than SPs are. To me there is little good about a SP pitching less.

The Pursuit of Baseballs Holy Grail has made him obsolete or a curiosity in today's game.HorseTrader wrote: ↑28 Jul 2025 18:11 pmThe pitching coaches who taken a broken down pile of nothing and turn it into a 15-20 game winnerDazepster wrote: ↑28 Jul 2025 17:24 pmAgree.Strummer Jones wrote: ↑28 Jul 2025 17:20 pmJeff Suppan used to be a shoo in for 200IP.

They can be pitching very well. They give up a leadoff hit in the 5th or 6thOzziesfan41 wrote: ↑28 Jul 2025 17:22 pmAnd they’re usually not even a very good five inningsStrummer Jones wrote: ↑28 Jul 2025 17:20 pmJeff Suppan used to be a shoo in for 200IP.

Nope. I'd understand if it was five innings and you gassed 12 hitters on strikes. That's bound to eat up a lot of pitches. But I don't see that often.Ozziesfan41 wrote: ↑28 Jul 2025 17:22 pmAnd they’re usually not even a very good five inningsStrummer Jones wrote: ↑28 Jul 2025 17:20 pmJeff Suppan used to be a shoo in for 200IP.
