Glad to see Clint Hurdle back in the game

Post by ScotchMIrish »

He needed time off to recover from a drinking problem. I wonder if he would be interested in a mangerial job in St Louis. What he did with the Pirates - doing more with less - is what we need.

I always liked him. Hitting coach for the Rockies now? Guess you have to start somewhere.

He's been sober for 26 years.

I'm not vouching for him as manager, but that seems like an awfully long time to black ball him for.

This is entirely untrue.

I've mentioned him multiple times in the past prior to Oli being hired, he did a good job under tough circumstances in Pittsburg and Denver.

I think he was recently upgraded to bench coach. He may not want the pressure of managing again but he knows the game.

When did he need time off for this drinking problem?

I didn't realize it was that long ago. I respect him for beating it.

Right? The OP implies he had a relapse. Never heard that.

Another ex-Cardinal under Whitey. I could get behind him as the manager. He did exceptionally well without a lot of talent in Pittsburgh.
