Re: Attendance, worse than Rocks
I mean listen guys. Have you seen the price of groceries? Looked at your utility bill lately? Missouri is not a rich state. On top of that there are fairly low wages. Let's face it, Missouri isn't a destination that anyone would really want to go to and I say that as a life long Missourian. Pro sports, baseball in general has priced the average American family out of participation. Basically we're Mississippi without the incest. Our once proud state has been subjugated into one of the poorer states in America. It's no surprise that an inferior product will not produce patrons when the expense is ridiculous. Add to that the unwillingness of ownership to upgrade the talent and voila! Here we are.

LOL...I was actually born in the "bootheel". I know it very well and got out as soon as I could. That being said, I'm sure the poorer states have a lot more "problems".45s wrote: ↑10 Jul 2025 15:00 pm“Without the incest”???CCard wrote: ↑10 Jul 2025 14:55 pm I mean listen guys. Re: Attendance, worse than Rocks
With all these answers touching on parts of what is happening with attendance, one additional issue stands out -- weather. Until early June the weather was terrible. Rain and more rain and more rain. By the middle of June we were 2.5" ahead of schedule. This resulted in delays and rain outs. Then the weather shifted to 90 degree heat with 60+% humidity. I haven't even gone because the games I planned on going to were iffy at best or have now become way too hot for me.
So now a perfect "storm" of issues have brought down the attendance numbers.

I agree, but midweek tickets can be had for single digits at times. It's possible to go on a budget -- if you have a reason.CCard wrote: ↑10 Jul 2025 14:55 pm I mean listen guys. Whose expectations? My expectations for the Cardinals is NLDs or WS.
Re: Attendance, worse than Rocks
That’s exactly what it is. BDW/MO were so arrogant thinking the Golden Goose would keep producing those eggs……even though they stopped feeding the goose……Really not much different than Jerry Jones and the Cowboys. Jimmy Johnson was the secret sauce and Jones got jealous that the accolades weren’t coming his way. Hasn’t seen a Super Bowl since. LaRussa wasn’t done managing, BDW/MO nudged him out thinking they could run the show and didn’t need a high dollar manager and pitching coach. Then apparently didn’t think they need funded farm system, even though THAT was their stated formula AFTER LARUSSA. “We’re going to develop from within” but don’t fund the development system. Basically same storyline we’re hearing now.butsir01 wrote: ↑10 Jul 2025 14:20 pmGoldfan wrote: ↑10 Jul 2025 10:03 amA poorly run entertainment company that charges hefty fees to its customer…..to entertain them….and he done a fine job for 20yrs and had a loyal rapid fan base….but over the last 10yrs or so the entertainment hasn’t been nearly on the level as before and its obvious that ownership hasn’t put in the effort thinking the fan base just cares about the costumes and not really the entertainment….and FINALLY the fans grow very tired of of the (bleep) poor effort to entertain them and decide not to spend the high cost to NOT be entertained…and are waiting for a real effort from ownership BEFORE returning. Very simple story
^This, plain and simple.

+1...and it doesnt help that Mo-ran is the face of the franchise who has a very punch-able faceGoldfan wrote: ↑10 Jul 2025 18:27 pmThat’s exactly what it is. The previous comments capture the situation well. You could also add the vibe downtown is not too enticing right now. The nearby worker base is much smaller than it was just 10 years ago, and the dining/social options for pre/post game are not what they used to be.
The big question is does the organization fully understand all this and are they prepared to compete for the entertainment dollars. Keeping Mo in place after 2024 does not indicate a sense of urgency. I'm ready for a new voice....now.

Glad they gave Bloom time to work with the minor leagues before taking over the whole operation.JohnTudor1985 wrote: ↑10 Jul 2025 18:48 pm The previous comments capture the situation well. Of course. We actually have beautiful weather in the evenings at Coors. That’s a fun place to go hang out and it’s super cheap.

Bingo!
It's a game of chicken between ownership and the fans.
I think it's going to get worse before it gets better.
Look at the resistance with removing Miles and Fedde from the starting rotation.
