LOL...I was actually born in the "bootheel". I know it very well and got out as soon as I could. That being said, I'm sure the poorer states have a lot more "problems".

With all these answers touching on parts of what is happening with attendance, one additional issue stands out -- weather. Until early June the weather was terrible. Rain and more rain and more rain. By the middle of June we were 2.5" ahead of schedule. This resulted in delays and rain outs. Then the weather shifted to 90 degree heat with 60+% humidity. I haven't even gone because the games I planned on going to were iffy at best or have now become way too hot for me.

So now a perfect "storm" of issues have brought down the attendance numbers.

I agree, but midweek tickets can be had for single digits at times. It's possible to go on a budget -- if you have a reason.

The Cardinals are down 6,679 yoy per game, the worst in baseball. Even worse than the Rays who are playing in a minor league stadium. The Athletics, also playing in a minor league stadium, are actually up by 2,120 yoy per game.

The fans are letting the tone deaf front office know that they want change...DeTwit and Mo-ran can't be so stupid to not see this unless they are surrounded by front office (donkey) kissers.

Actually, it’s not supporting the players.

A poorly run entertainment company that charges hefty fees to its customer…..to entertain them….and he done a fine job for 20yrs and had a loyal rapid fan base….but over the last 10yrs or so the entertainment hasn’t been nearly on the level as before and its obvious that ownership hasn’t put in the effort thinking the fan base just cares about the costumes and not really the entertainment….and FINALLY the fans grow very tired of of the (bleep) poor effort to entertain them and decide not to spend the high cost to NOT be entertained…and are waiting for a real effort from ownership BEFORE returning. Very simple story

BDW/MO were so arrogant thinking the Golden Goose would keep producing those eggs……even though they stopped feeding the goose……Really not much different than Jerry Jones and the Cowboys. Jimmy Johnson was the secret sauce and Jones got jealous that the accolades weren’t coming his way. Hasn’t seen a Super Bowl since. LaRussa wasn’t done managing, BDW/MO nudged him out thinking they could run the show and didn’t need a high dollar manager and pitching coach. Then apparently didn’t think they need funded farm system, even though THAT was their stated formula AFTER LARUSSA. “We’re going to develop from within” but don’t fund the development system. Basically same storyline we’re hearing now.
