“The #STLCards' attendance numbers continue to be an issue
They rank 15th in average tickets sold per home game -- selling fewer than the 21-71 Rockies”
Positive step toward change
Actually, it’s not supporting the players.
WRONG!
It's sending a message to BDWJr and you know it.
But rocko, the players have feelings, too. Poor guys.
cranny's a sycophant, he'll never admit the fans anger is directed at BDWJr for allowing Mo to drive this franchise into a ditch w/his horrible managerial hirings and poor payroll management.

Thanks, Rock, for your fresh, new, original thoughts.
The owners basically said things will get worse unless fan support gets better. Hard to come back from that. What a horrible business philosophy and how stupid to admit it.
It will take a decade to rebuild because the farm system needs so much work.

Apparently the Cardinals can just keep doing the same things over and over and it's fine, but here on Cards Talk we must present fresh, new, original thoughts.

They’re going to lose a ton of money this year, and every dime they lose is a dime they deserve to lose.

Hey, sdalton, let's bash the owner, POBO, and manager. That's sure worth reading every day. Right?

We will continue mistreating our employees until morale improves!

Agree with the statement about the owners. This is why they are failing in the marketplace.
Disagree with your take on the farm system. While I wouldn't call the system "deep", there are some meaningful prospects there, we are seeing some improvement already on the development front, and there are some smarter people coming into the building. My outlook is more favorable than yours.

If you are expecting people to pretend like everything is rainbows and lollipops right now and you don't think it's worth reading this place when things are bad...
If only there was some way for you to solve this conundrum...

I think it is improving for sure but not nearly as deep as it used to be. Maybe it was unrealistic to expect that to continue. If you aren't willing to pay market prices for talent (which are obscene for sure) you need to have an unbelievable pipeline to compete. If you build that farm system other teams will steal your staff. There is no solution for big spending in pro sports except for salary caps or more aggressive revenue sharing.

You solve the conundrum through trades, like in the past. But you have to develop your prospects better to have the trade chips. Which is what they're doing now.

Lmao I'm not talking about the Cardinals conundrum. I'm talking about yours.

Very well stated. If the Cardinals improved their spending to $200 million, like many posters want, it would look like this -
Dodgers - $337 million
Mets - $331 million
Yankees - $290 million
Phillies - $279 million
Blue Jays - $246 million
Astros - $221 million
Rangers - $219 million
Braves - $212 million
Padres - $209 million
Cards - $200 million
