More details in this article of Oli's feeling on that topic.

It sounds like to me he does not think they need veteran leadership. I don’t see where is opposed to adding a right handed bat. If he is that would surprise me due to the way he does his line ups (left, right, left, right). Of course the Oli haters will say he just does not want to add a veteran that knows more than he does.
Most people know more than he does. I could throw a dart out the window and hit someone who knows more than him.
I’m a little surprised at your negativity. Honestly I don’t know how to evaluate him. Line up shuffling and some of the bull pen usage seems a little questionable but to his credit he has not been given a decent roster. Frankly I’m ok if they extend him a year or two. That’s not to say they can’t fire him at a cost. But I think it solidifies for the players his role going forward. Yea I know getting Dewitt to eat his contract is a challenge.

Curious who you would replace him with?
It might be negativity, but it is absolutely fact. The guy does not know how to manage a baseball game, or baseball team for that matter.

Where to start?
-Horrendous daily lineups.
-Hitting tablesetters in the MOTO and using MOTO bats as tablesetters.
-No in-game "feel".
-Resting guys like we are playing in the minor leagues.
-Killing hot streaks of players
-Terrible BP usage
-Terrible usage of starters
-Leaving starters in too long at times and pulling others way too soon.
-Calling out players publicly (O'Neill, Contreras, Walker, etc.)
-No real development/improvement of young guys.
-Jerking players around (bullpen-starter-bullpen, etc.)
-Zero creativity in trying to produce runs.
-Lack of a running game.
-Bungling of 1st and only playoff series.
-2 losing seasons
-Smug, arrogant attitude

These are some that immediately come to mind. Im sure there are many more. He is simply inept. Was never qualified for this position and clearly is one of the worst big-league managers in the league. Perhaps his biggest weakness is that he does not put players in positions to succeed, which is the #1 job of a manager.
Cannot disagree with a single word.

AI
I prefer real intelligence over artificial intelligence.
Currently, the Cardinals have neither in the manager's chair.
