Oli & Chaim may not see eye to eye on right handed bat
Apparently Oli doesn't think the Cardinals need a right handed outfielder veteran providing leadership while Chaim has publicly stated he is seeking a player for that role.

Right handed bat is over rated.

It sounds like to me he does not think they need veteran leadership. I don’t see where is opposed to adding a right handed bat. If he is that would surprise me due to the way he does his line ups (left, right, left, right). Of course the Oli haters will say he just does not want to add a veteran that knows more than he does.ramfandan wrote: ↑19 Feb 2026 01:04 am Apparently Oli doesn't think the Cardinals need a right handed outfielder veteran providing leadership while Chaim has publicly stated he is seeking a player for that role.

We had losing seasons 2 of the last 3 seasons with plenty of veteran leadership.

Most people know more than he does. I could throw a dart out the window and hit someone who knows more than him.Jatalk wrote: ↑19 Feb 2026 06:33 amIt sounds like to me he does not think they need veteran leadership. I’m a little surprised at your negativity. Honestly I don’t know how to evaluate him. Line up shuffling and some of the bull pen usage seems a little questionable but to his credit he has not been given a decent roster. Frankly I’m ok if they extend him a year or two. That’s not to say they can’t fire him at a cost. But I think it solidifies for the players his role going forward. Yea I know getting Dewitt to eat his contract is a challenge.Cardinals4Life wrote: ↑19 Feb 2026 07:44 amMost people know more than he does. Curious who you would replace him with?
Re: Oli & Chaim may not see eye to eye on right handed bat
Well that’s true but we had some underperforming vets and I wonder what kind of leaders they were. The exception being WC IMO.ScotchMIrish wrote: ↑19 Feb 2026 07:31 am We had losing seasons 2 of the last 3 seasons with plenty of veteran leadership.

Would be nice to have anyone close to those players.12xu wrote: ↑19 Feb 2026 07:33 amHornsby, Foxx, DiMaggio, Aaron, Banks, Mays, Robinson, Clemente, Pujols.Cardinals1964 wrote: ↑19 Feb 2026 01:09 am Right handed bat is over rated.

OLI's JOB: To instill confidence in his players that they are 'enough.'
Oli's POV is the right POV for his role.
Re: Oli & Chaim may not see eye to eye on right handed bat
Soooo, he said he is open to the idea but doesn't deem it "necessary". Why is this an article, and why is it even being discussed?
Re: Oli & Chaim may not see eye to eye on right handed bat
The Cardinals don't need a veteran RHH OF for his leadership - they need one for offensive production.
Re: Oli & Chaim may not see eye to eye on right handed bat
Does anyone think a RHB is gong to make a lick of difference in this season

Re: Oli & Chaim may not see eye to eye on right handed bat
Honestly, they were never going to win a World Series with Gray, WC, and a declining Arenado.
They needed to get rid of those contracts, get something in return, and get younger. For too long this organization has been trying to win the Wild Card with 85 wins.
I couldn't be happier right now. This should have happened the same off season they signed Lynn and Gibson.

Contreras deliberately got hit by pitches on the elbow pad and blamed it on his teammates for not retaliating. That's leadership but not good leadership.Jatalk wrote: ↑19 Feb 2026 08:01 amWell that’s true but we had some underperforming vets and I wonder what kind of leaders they were.
