abuse is usually against women - the days of men treating everyone like (bleep), having drinks after work and going home to take everything out on their wives needed to go bye bye in the worst way!Banner29 wrote: ↑16 Oct 2025 17:06 pmdugoutrex wrote: ↑16 Oct 2025 16:53 pmGoldfan wrote: ↑16 Oct 2025 09:24 amThat’s my feeling but this “news” seems to implicate Schildty as some sort of deranged lunatic abusing all that crossed his path. I’m attempting to understand if he’s just a guy like all 70’s,80,90’s hardazzzes and today’s delicate society sees as abusive…..rockondlouie wrote: ↑16 Oct 2025 08:52 amTLR sure didGoldfan wrote: ↑16 Oct 2025 08:24 amI wonder if TLR ever hurt anyone’s feelings or wanted his own players?? Sorry, but I’m old school…..if the manager is being an (bleep) then leave or perhaps the manager should choose his own staff and not have it dictated by the POBO. Now if Schildty is some unhinged lunatic thats a different story…..very curious what level of “abuse” we’re talking about. Everyone today is offended about everything.rockondlouie wrote: ↑16 Oct 2025 08:15 am+1
He also reported that the final straw was Shildt "demanding" Mo trade for or sign the players he wanted (not a bad idea given Mo's ineptness but not something you do to your BOSS).
But unlike Shildt, TLR had built up credibility and Mo seem to be afraid to confront him.
That's why we got three "yes men" after TLR.
When one (Shildt) did push back, Mo canned him.
lots of them were abusive
Maybe, but so many people also weren’t sissies and could take it

Two facts. When he got mad at umpires and got on their face
shrieking F bombs, it wasn’t good. Had a hair trigger for anger. And the clubhouse video that was leaked showed a whole different side of him.

My thoughts exactly. He actually believes it’s uncommon(and possibly even demonic) for pro athletes/coaches(aka a group of dudes) to use swear words.
Re: So the San Diego writer finds out what happened in St. Louis with Shildt
He didn’t like Jeff Albert
And yes a manager not the front office ought to be able to hire his coaches
Re: So the San Diego writer finds out what happened in St. Louis with Shildt
I thought I heard Shildt and an unnamed Padres coach almost came to blows.82birds wrote: ↑15 Oct 2025 16:31 pm I couldn't find the link but I found this from an article on MLBTR:
multiple St. Louis coaches and staffers were threatening to quit their jobs if Shildt was brought back in 2022, which contributed to the Cardinals’ decision to part ways. The situation wasn’t quite this intense with the Padres’ staff, though Acee notes that “multiple coaches indicated they would leave if they found opportunities elsewhere.”

"Anger itself isn’t considered a disorder, but anger is a known symptom of several mental health conditions."
"Anger is an essential emotion, but when it can’t be managed and controlled, it becomes a problem."
"A 2010 studyTrusted Source found that uncontrolled anger is bad for your physical and mental health. It can also quickly escalate to verbal or physical violence, harming you and those around you."
"For some people, anger results from an underlying disorder"
This isn't AI stuff. Sounds like if Mike has anger issues he should get help. Maybe, if he needs it, he already is, which is his own business.

Let’s take this back to the beginning…..which adds to the confusion.
Schildty worked in the Cards org for close to 20yrs??? If he was such a loose cannon temper threat don’t you think his butt would’ve been canned WAY before in lesser positions? BDW/MO and those below knew this guy for decades and not only didn’t warn of this behavior they MADE HIM CARDINALS MANAGER. How is this possible……Mr. Hyde didn’t show his face until he wore a ML managers cap?

You think maybe the stress of managing a major league team might be a little higher than coaching and managing minor leagues? Just a theory.Goldfan wrote: ↑16 Oct 2025 19:08 pm Let’s take this back to the beginning…..which adds to the confusion.

If you’re a lunatic with an out of control temper someone is going to see it in 20yrs in minors…..2ninr wrote: ↑16 Oct 2025 19:13 pmYou think maybe the stress of managing a major league team might be a little higher than coaching and managing minor leagues? Acre in San Diego has been one of the best fit quite a few years.hmoss859 wrote: ↑15 Oct 2025 16:16 pm Where was Derrick Goolds reporting? Where was BenFred reporting? Where was Katie Woos reporting? Where was Cusumano reporting? Where was Karrakers reporting?

Nobody dug deeper?
What a horrible look than a San Diego writer has to report what was underneath their nose!
Wish this San Diego writer was around when HackGate happened
In St. Louis, if reporter gets on wrong side of Cardinals club he gets cold shoulder and poor access.
Have seen same thing with Green Bay packers. Wish I could think of writers name for zmole journal
Paper, he slammed Bart Starr as head coach .
Really ugly

I think a Post-Dispatch writer should reach out to Mike Shildt for his take on the matter, two sides to every story, right? Maybe also get TLR perspective on things?
Seems like a lot of people jumping on bandwagon who stayed awfully quiet for several years.
Let's part the Red Wall.

Two sides of him. I was at a small luncheon at Busch Stadium
and he was the quest speaker. Very soft spoken and Caspar Milquetoast like. Then the other side was exhibited in the clubhouse video. I’m not a Bernie M. fan, but he’s got it nailed. Too bad MS couldn’t control that temper. It’s proving to be his downfall.

It wasn’t so much the swear words, as it was the hair trigger violent anger he displayed.Banner29 wrote: ↑16 Oct 2025 17:41 pmNYCardsFan wrote: ↑16 Oct 2025 17:37 pm![]()
