So the San Diego writer finds out what happened in St. Louis with Shildt

Post by hmoss859 »

Meanwhile the local scribes acted like they didn't have a clue what happened when Shildt was fired.

That's a pretty damning indictment on the local media in my opinion.

Bernie 100% reported it in his podcast a few years ago

Where was Derrick Goolds reporting? Where was BenFred reporting? Where was Katie Woos reporting? Where was Cusumano reporting? Where was Karrakers reporting?

We knew philosophical differences was [nonsense], but b
Nobody dug deeper?

What a horrible look than a San Diego writer has to report what was underneath their nose!

Wish this San Diego writer was around when HackGate happened

I couldn't find the link but I found this from an article on MLBTR:

multiple St. Louis coaches and staffers were threatening to quit their jobs if Shildt was brought back in 2022, which contributed to the Cardinals’ decision to part ways. The situation wasn’t quite this intense with the Padres’ staff, though Acee notes that “multiple coaches indicated they would leave if they found opportunities elsewhere.”

I don't remember him saying Mikey was a horse's (bleep) and that those below him hated working for him but maybe I'm mis-remembering ?

Read the other post on his firing and there is a lot from the SD reporter about how many in the organization said they wouldn't work with him any
more.

Bernie reported that Shildt had gotten into a conflict with his coaches and that Mo had settled it. He said no more, except to make some snide references whenever he thought someone was being too hard on Mo for the firing.

Now he's acting like he was telling us all along Shildt was no good.

I think Bernie (and others) knew more and kept quiet, because that's the town we're in. Which is one way to be a journalist. But none of them get to take credit now that a real reporter did real reporting.

We all know. The Cardinals told them to keep a lid on it, and the State Media said "Yes, sire."

Which is just another day in Cardinal Nation. What really chaps me right now is Bernie M. of all people pretending he's been telling people for years about this. What a [fork]ing blowhard.

To hear that Shildt was receiving death threats is insane. What a world we live in.

I really miss Joe Strauss, he was a (bleep) good reporter and didn't play footsy with the Cardinals like the local media does.

This media market is so freaking soft, it's embarrassing.

It's your job to report what you know, and if you didn't know there was a Shildt anger issue, you aren't doing your job. If you aren't reporting it, you are just a shill for the organization.

Bernie playing like he knew is just total b.s. from the grandstanding blowhard he is.

You don’t really think house media would report something negative about the local team?

There is something really wrong with the guy. Two organizations in 3 years and for basically the same reason....no one can work with him.

It is possible the team chose not to tell anyone why he was let go. Local reporters could have asked the right questions, but got no answers. Philosophical differences seems to sum it all up. I can understand why others in the organization would not want to admit to any issues beyond telling the Cards that they will not work with him any longer.

Then why did the San Diego reporter get the information?
