I already said that I think that he should DH, but I just don’t have a problem with him not catching today. If he catches two out of every three games, that puts him at 109 games started at catcher. Only 7 other catchers in baseball started more games at catcher than that. This isn’t a Yadi situation. Catchers are splitting time more and more. Pages is going to get his starts and that’s just the way the game is played today. And while I think Herrera is better defensively than he gets credit for, he’s not the catcher that you have to have behind the plate every game.

But, yes, he should absolutely be DHing today. The guy just hits, and not just for a catcher.

Pages role should be like Siani's, late inning defensive replacement and 35-40 spot starts (Sinai way, way less starts).

He will try to squeeze 5 innings out of a struggling putcher with a high pitch count but will do stuff like pull fedde yesterday after 6 with pitch count of 73 like he hates letting starters pitch into the 7th unless he has no choice from taxed bullpen. He did it to gray a lot last year too.

It also seemed ti titally contradict what mo said about targeting lynn and gibsin because they were inning eaters to save pen but he wouldn't let starters eat inning when they had low pitch counts.

Makes even less sense to pull fedde early when we are going to a 6 man rotation that gives extra rest anyways

The loss in that series was on the immortal Whitey not getting his boys focused as much as Dek.

The loss vs Philly can be spread on most of the roster as much as Oli. IMO, Hels should have indeed been pulled

Had a Pallante as RH's backup, equally sketchy in 2022. Oli chose to die with RH. Whether that death was in the

Oli is improving and fast approaching average. It may be interesting to see how he manages in 2026 without MO.

Pages is going to catch 1 of every 3 or 4 games regardless. I understand Herrera is swinging it well but catcher being the physically demanding position it is good to keep him fresh. Plus you have LH pitchers coming up so he could easily DH a game.
Gorman needs to play his share. RH SP ok to sit Walker for a game.
Of the 4 reserves who haven’t started first two:
Pages- needs to start every 3rd or 4th game.
Gorman- needs to play also.
The other two supply either late game defense(Siani) or a RH PH bat(Baker).

The result of the choice has AB in the lineup vs a RHP instead of IH. Pulled Walker
which I can support. Puts both BD and NG in a lineup vs RHP.

Who knows maybe IH comes through as a RH pinch hit late just as Pages has been
used to catch the last inning.
