I agree that the Cardinals should not try to assemble a lineup of all or nothing type HR sluggers. They play in a pitcher's park, and should concentrate on getting a group of line drive hitting, high average batters.

I loved the '85 Running Redbirds, but that team is almost impossible to replicate successfully today. In 1985, the Cardinals played 120 of their 162 games on artificial turf. There are only five current MLB parks with artificial turf, and only two are in the National League. That team had contact hitters, great speed, stole more bases than any NL team since the deadball era, and had FIVE switch hitters in the starting lineup.
