There's a happy medium between all or nothing.

Balance. You need a threat in your lineup. HRs are the most effective way to score runs
RBI’s are the most effective way to score runs
I think you need to remember where the Cards play…..
The home run has two major advantages- one, it can give you a lead. Team and pitcher settle in; two, it helps to catch up, quickly.

Other than that give me a double every time.
You give me the lineup like above and I’ll take my chances

Hi C-Unit!

Sadly, it tells me that our hitters were so inept that they couldn’t execute what the Mozo Method wanted from them.

Just because they didn’t hit many HR’s doesn’t mean they weren’t trying to.

Ever since Matt Carpenter continually refused to slap the ball through the shortstop hole against the shift, this franchise has shown they have no desire to play any small ball whatsoever. That philosophy clearly has been dictated from the top, which was Mozo the Clown.

Please note the following fact from the Cubs-Brewers game today.

The Cubs have 3 HR’s and are losing 9-3.

The Brewers have ZERO HR’s and are winning 9-3.

Conclusion: You don’t have to blindly swing for the fences like so many Cardinal hitters to score lots of runs, win games, be exciting, and fill the seats with paying butts.

Bonus history lesson: Tommy Herr had 110 RBI’s on only 8 HR’s in the Cardinals pennant winning season in 1985. Busch Stadium was packed with paying fannies in those days.

So there’s your fricken “business case”. Now go execute it.
No. Don't listen to this...HRs are a need and a necessity
This might be true, but you can’t make home run hitters out of everyone that plays the game. Victor Scott is a prime example. He has been trying to pull everything and hit the ball as hard as he can. That’s not a recipe for success for him. Walker hit 20 homers in the minors hitting the ball the way he was used to. Then they tried to change and look what they created!

I'm not claiming everyone needs to be a HR hitter, but the Cards need a threat at the plate.

JW wasn't created by the Cards to the poor hitter he is, that's his own inability to learn as teams have learned about how to get him out. And yes, he does need loft on his ball. Nobody needs a linebacker built player hitting hard ground outs.

He’s a clown and deserves all the accolades and benefits his clowndom deserves.

Stop being the Cards Talk scold, you putz. How old are you?
A lot older than you, Hazelwood, and have seen way too many people who judge others like you do. Do others judge you the same way? And “mozo the clown” is truly junior high playground stuff.
Crann-Ma (which rhymes with Grandma),
You really, REALLY get incensed with the Mozo the Clown handle. Way more than a neutral fan normally would. So much so, that you are obviously a friend of Mozo, a relative of Mozo, or a Cardinal front office shill.

Whatever your relationship is to The Great Mozeliak, I shall continue to use the Mozo the Clown handle as long as I post to Cards Talk. He absolutely deserves it for his role in utterly destroying the Cardinal franchise at the major league level and destroying the Cardinal minor league and development system.

So, for old time’s sake, here’s one more golden goodie:

Mozo the Clown!

You call it childish. I call it accurate. We differ in opinion.

Have a glorious evening.

Amen. Dave Winfield made the HOF and never hit more than 30 home runs 3 times in his career. This desire to create guys who hit 50 HR's per year should be abandoned and they should have all players play to their strengths, not to the strengths the front office desires.
Yeah, don't you just hate these guys that swing for the fences and get a ton of strikeouts . Just look at Cal Raleigh Mariners .. the guy struck out 188 times in 159 games ( Gorman struck out 136 times in 111 games , Walker 126 in 11 games and Contreras 142 times in 135 games )
We certainly don't want a guy like Raleigh on our team do we ?... So what is he hit 60 HR's and had 125 RBI's and a .948 OPS .. Ooops !
So just forget guys like that .. We don't need more high strikeout guys that could be MVP types !

It’s undeniable that the cardinals need to hit more homeruns. It’s not even debatable.

Its also a disadvantage. He now works for an owner reluctant to spend due to Mo's foolish contracts.

You're probably right...but in Section 148 the majority of fans will give Bloom a chance because of Mozo the Clowns mess.
