Hes shown he can be effective. He's young and cheap.

Not saying the leash might be getting shorter but there must be a reason they're trying to work him through this.
He has not shown he is a better option lol
You know more than the braintrust does. Lol
and I’ll bet as soon as they send him down you will agree that was the right time to send him down lol because they will he won’t figure it out he will continue to be awful
The guy was terrific last season in 39 games.

You just don't toss that away 6 weeks into the season.

No reason to be impatient unless some delusional folks here have suddenly forgotten what this season was supposed to be about just because they've played over their heads for 40 games.

If the team had championship expectations then maybe you have a shorter leash otherwise no reason at this point to send him down.

If last sesson was a fluke you won't find out by sending him to Memphis.
Okay so go on record how many games should they lose going to him? He’s going to give up at least 1 run every game how many games should they toss away letting him give up runs?let me guess as soon as they finally get around to figuring out he sucks and send him down that is the precise moment you agree he should be sent down
Do you ever make any sense?

I thought this year was about a "rebuild" to see what the young players can do? Isn't that what you all said this offseason? What changed?

You dont throw in towell on a guy in 6 weeks who was probably the bright spot of the pen last year besides Leahy and Romero.
1. rebuild doesnt mean we purposefully lose when we are in a playoff spot
2. sending a guy to minors doesnt mean throwing in the towel on them.
3. svanson isnt getting any better- i dont think this is good for him to get rocked this badly and lose confidence. just from an individual perspective id think itd be better for svanson
Well you might as well dismiss Bruihl and Stanek too.

What's the rationale for keeping them here and sending Svanson down?

Maybe he does go to Memphis at some point. Who you going to call up?

Im not fanboy of any player but maybe they've decided at least for the time being that trying to get him straightened out here with the ML coaches is better than at Memphis.
im all fir moving on feom thwm vut they havw to pass through waivers. svanson doesnt. for them waivibg them would be giving zp on them cuz another team could claim them.

svanson could get straightened out and come back whenever he looks ready
Thats three pitchers you want to bring up from Memphis.

Who are they?
one. i said id be fine with moving on fro bruihl or stanek but i havent been calling to dfa them. for now im fine with path of least resistance- svanson. he has options

and if we want to dfa bruihl or stanek we could call up a guy like rajcic or gastellum,

i think simply that we shouldnt have optioned ryan fernandez.
he has had promise before in 2024 befire his struggles last year. he looked okay in small sample size when he was up here and we should want to evaluate him as well to see if he has future. theres no way he should have been optioned before svanson. he was optioned on 28th i think so he has a couple more days til he can be recalled cuz he has to stay 15 days except injury, but then bring him back.

How long did it take before Mo finally decided enough was enough last season and took him away from Oli?

And they're right about one thing, in that the shuffle definitely affected RyFer's development, although I don't know how much of that is due to injuries.
ironically, fernandez is someone id want on team over svanson right now. he actually looked okay when he was up here for a few outings.

This kid has been lost from Day 1.

He's now given up runs in FIVE (5) of his last SIX (6) outings!

Last night was a stupid situation to bring him into, turning a tough one (1) run deficit against M. Miller into an almost impossible two (2) runs vs the best closer in MLB. ::crazya::

SEND HIM TO MEMPHIS before he helps lose yet another game! :x
So all of this isnt about a runway for players but rather wins and losses.

Let's send down anyone not performing to this point.

Bruihl, Stanek, Scott, Saggese, etc.

You still have to field a roster and with the amount of money they are willing to spend you're going to have holes.

Im not saying at some point you send him down but unless expectations are for winning a championship you give a little more rope.

His performance last year deserves it.
Runway is one thing, letting a young player like Svanson drowned in his Sophomore season is just plain stupid.

You're comment is w/o context.

Bruihl (about to turn 29 yrs old w/a 5.00 ERA/1.44 WHiP) and JAGesse (.158 .213 .193 .406) have no place being on this team, any fool can see that.

Stanek is a veteran signed for $3+M, he'll be given time and has looked a lot better his last half dozen appearances.

VSII has 731 MLB PA's and has shown he can't hit major league pitching: .203 .279 .285 .564.

If he's sent to AAA once Noot is activated, then I doubt many Cardinal fans will shed a tear.

Not sure why you want to die on this hill defending these type of players who have NO FUTURE here and can be replaced from within the system.

Svanson has talent and to let him keep taking a beating (last 6 G: 7.50 ERA/1.50 WHiP) makes no sense.

He's had plenty of "rope" and he's at the end of it.

Needs to be in Memphis ASAP.

Shouldn't have paid for Stanek in the first place but I remember some people (hint) who said he could be a valuable BP piece.

Apparently folks here can't decide if they should support a "rebuild" or another run at some half (donkey) wild card spot.

If winning now is the goal then run through as many players as you want. If bringing up players when they are actually ready then thats something else.

Make up your mind.

Please enough with the drama.

No one is dying on any hill over any player certainly not me.

Im just giving a viewpoint on why they are keeping him here for now if you dont agree fine.

Svanson has no future here after hes one of the few pitchers who could get anyone out last season?

Shouldn't have paid for Stanek in the first place but I remember some people (hint) who said he could be a valuable BP piece.

Apparently folks here can't decide if they should support a "rebuild" or another run at some half (donkey) wild card spot.

If winning now is the goal then run through as many players as you want. If bringing up players when they are actually ready then thats something else.

Make up your mind.
"drama" That's rich given you're response, no "drama" from me pal.

And I'm just giving my viewpoint too, you don't agree and that's also fine.

Who ever said "Svanson has no future here"? Not me. Making c r a p up now to fit your narrative?

And NEVER said Stanek could be a "valuable BP piece" since I disliked the signing, making up more c r a p?

Is that your game now, making c r a p up?
I didn't use the phrase about dying on a hill over a relief pitcher. You did. Your response.

Talk about making [shirt] up.

You cant replace every player who doesnt perform on a whim with this payroll by the first of May.

So make up your mind, is it a rebuild where players are given time and opportunity or is it a half (donkey) wild card run that has failed in the past?
"You cant replace every player who doesnt perform on a whim with this payroll by the first of May"

Drama much?
Yeah you're just another fraud here.

Crying for acceptance.

Pathetic.
