That in my view would be bad asset management. Waive or i guess trade Texier for Lucic? Im not a big Texier fan but he can play serviceable hockey. The hole in this line up is still 3rd RW, there is not a competent scorer right now for that spot and it could haunt the team a little esp if Snuggerud is a bit shaky all the sudden the RW side isnt as strong as it looked bc Joseph is not an answer. Longer term the Blues are fine they can use Dvorsky, Stenberg, move Neighbours over in a scenario.Pierre McGuire wrote: ↑29 Sep 2025 08:56 amHe takes over the press box role that Texier had and you put him in the lineup when neededHarry S Deals wrote: ↑29 Sep 2025 08:54 amHow do the Blues make Lucic fit? Re: Dalibor Dvorsky
While I tend to agree with this, I will note that while Dvorsky has been solely at C in his 2 preseason games, he did line up at LW the first 2-3 days of camp practices. That’s 10+ days ago now and he hasn’t touched wing since then so that’s telling but just pointing out they initially had him at LW so clearly it is or at least was a consideration.kimzey59 wrote: ↑29 Sep 2025 00:33 amNot ready to make any guesses.seattleblue wrote: ↑28 Sep 2025 18:26 pmyup. are you over or under for 50 games in the NHL this season?kimzey59 wrote: ↑28 Sep 2025 17:36 pmI don't necessarily disagree.danno wrote: ↑28 Sep 2025 14:56 pm I've watched all of the preseason games and in my opinion he just hasn't made himself stand out enough.
That was a nice snipe on Saturday, but all things considered I still think he starts the season in Springfield.
If he wants to stay up with the big club he's gonna need to steal a spot from one of suter, bjugstad, sundqvist, or Joseph.
He's young. [ just turned 20 years old ]
I think everything will still turn out fine if he spends the entire season on Springfield
However; nobody else has really stepped up to secure that 3rd line spot either.
Texier is still the Texier we remember(good speed and skill, but it isn't translating to points and his defense isn't good).
Joseph still can't find the scoresheet.
Bjugstad and Sunny haven't separated themselves enough to say they should both play every night.
IMO Dvorsky is very much in that group, he's just got an uphill battle since he can be sent down freely.
What I will say:
Dvorsky hasn't played one second of wing all pre-season. I don't see any inclination from the coaching staff to even try him at wing.
Personally, I don't think the discussion is exclusively about 3RW. I think there are two options that the coaching staff is debating between.
Joseph as the 3rd line RW with Schenn and Jake
or
Dvorsky as 3rd line center with Schenn moving to wing
And I'm not ready to say which option is better just yet.
I'd also point out that Dvorsky has had Carbonneau stapled to his RW the whole time and Carb's was clearly not close to ready from a defensive standpoint.
Personally, I want to see how Dvorsky looks with actual NHL wingers before making any guesses. So far, he's been stuck carrying the majority of the defensive load for his line and I don't think that's given us a real gauge of his current status.
Ideally, I'd like to see him between Neighbours and Joseph on Tuesday; but at least give him Sunny and Tex to see if the offense becomes visible with a slightly reduced defensive role. Another interesting factor is that Dvorsky is at 50% on FO's so far(13 wins in 26 attempts). If he pulls himself into the positive on Tuesday that could be another factor.
And who knows, now that we’ve had a big cut and we’re down to the guys that more or less actually have a chance to make the team, maybe he finds himself back on wing. I suppose we’ll find out soon enough when they practice here later today.

Re: Dalibor Dvorsky
While I really want Dvorsky to make the opening night roster, at the same time, I think we all know it's correct to send him to the AHL to be the #1 center for the T-birds.
If the Blues didn't have Texier and Joseph then I think the decision to put him on RW to play with Schenn/Suter and Neighbours would be a good one. I just don't see the reason to do that unless he's head and shoulders better than most of the entire middle six.
The Blues need to season their top guys and not rush them. I think he should be playing #2C on The Blues where we all (and The Blues) want to see him in a year.
I think he is definitely a first call-up if enough injuries happen or deals are made to make space for him. I just would rather see him playing his natural position from the get-go instead of having to transition to it like Thomas did.

Maybe. Based on the view of things today, keeping Lucic over Texier would probably be a mistake. But Lucic still has a week+ to change the narrative. Hopefully his groin is good to go and he’s back at practice today. I doubt he ends up making the team but I can see the value he’d bring to the roster. He just needs to prove his legs can handle 30 or so games this season.Harry S Deals wrote: ↑29 Sep 2025 09:00 amThat in my view would be bad asset management. Waive or i guess trade Texier for Lucic? Another issue is every single one of these guys you mentioned (Texier, Joseph, Dvorsky, Stenberg, Neighbours, Lucic) is a lefty that historically has either played LW or C. It’s far from impossible for a lefty to move to RW but some can do it and others struggle. I’m sure that’s part of the evaluation process - can any of these guys successfully play the right side? Or at least do so better than righties Bjugstad or Sundqvist?
We have one top-9 winger that’s a lefty that actually prefers the right side in Buch…but as of now, he seems projected to the 1LW spot. If we move him back to RW, then one of him, Kyrou or Snuggerud will end up on the 3rd line as both Kyrou and Snuggy really only make sense at RW and only RW.
It’ll be an interesting next week or so of camp. See how the lines shake out, what line combos work best for which players and which line combos work out best for the team.

Re: Dalibor Dvorsky
Regarding Dvorsky, I have no idea how ready he is but I think he’s definitely improved a lot from last years training camp. I’d also like to see how he does with both wingers being NHL players. I still think he has a shot of making the roster this year if it looks like he keeps improving in camp. If he stalls out a bit then he’ll most likely be sent down. I personally thought he looked much better last game than his 1st preseason game.
Re: Dalibor Dvorsky
I haven't seen a single practice and just the prospect games, Dallas, and highlights, but all the early signals seem to be a return of the established wing pairings minus Bolduc and a lean to coming out of the gate with veterans plus Snuggerud and Mailloux. The question marks appear to be how they line up at 2-3-4C and 3RW, and which vet(s) is or are pushed off the roster. The D and goaltending and 1C are set. The only players who could push their way onto the roster appear to be Lucic and/or Dvorsky.STL fan in MN wrote: ↑29 Sep 2025 09:14 amMaybe. Again, Dvorsky's hill to climb is the Blues do not appear to need him when everyone is healthy. More than anything, he needs to focus on being the best center he can be; as a viable NHL center he should then be the first call up when the Blues need a forward under any circumstances. That's what is happening by all current reports. That's not to say he won't make the team out of camp, either, but if Schenn and Suter are solid in the middle and no one is injured he might start in the A to keep playing center.

Re: Dalibor Dvorsky
they're likely to play him in all three games this week. the fact they're giving him every possible moment at center is a tell to what they think they have in him. The Blues right now are a Dvorsky emergence away from some very strong years. I feel completely confident at keeping Dvorsky at #1 in our pool and I feel like it's the easiest ranking decision in the pool.kimzey59 wrote: ↑29 Sep 2025 00:33 amNot ready to make any guesses.seattleblue wrote: ↑28 Sep 2025 18:26 pmyup. are you over or under for 50 games in the NHL this season?kimzey59 wrote: ↑28 Sep 2025 17:36 pmI don't necessarily disagree.danno wrote: ↑28 Sep 2025 14:56 pm I've watched all of the preseason games and in my opinion he just hasn't made himself stand out enough.

I do like this combo a lot. Even is Stenberg is a little over his head he does have the intangibles the Blues could work with, speed, tenacious forechecker, skill. Dvorsky centered Lucic and I think it was Kaskimaki at practice.
I don't think that they think he is quite ready to start the season as an NHL center. He continues to work on faceoffs after practice though.

All the other lines made some sense. Lucic-Devo-Kaski appeared to be the “outside looking in, this what’s left” line. All 3 are likely on the outside looking in but have at least a shot to elevate themselves and jump others. I may be reading too much into line combos but that’s the thought that went through my head when I saw them.b-a-a-a-rclay wrote: ↑29 Sep 2025 15:29 pm Dvorsky centered Lucic and I think it was Kaskimaki at practice.
