Yes. They were hoping for 35/100 as a DH but he’s not that guy
Most of the time hope is not a good strategy.
Nothing wrong with hoping, and no one said it was a strategy. Dumbest ongoing statement used...

But, you have to be comfortable with a ton of strikeouts and considerable dry-spells. But, I do believe across 162 with full playing time, he'd put up 30-35 home runs, easy.
LOL..."right" lineup? What would that be???

Guy can't last 162 games with his back, and if he had to play the field (poorly) it would only add to it...

Both Gorman and Walker have failed this test.

They can get hot for a 10 game stretch then fall right back into the abyss.

Walker may be on his last leg here in 2026 since C. Bloom has no "investment" in him like Mo did.

Gorman may get more time especially if NADO is dealt.
Arenado needs to be history one way or another. He cannot be on this team in the middle of a rebuild. He just does not fit.

Gorman is hitting .214 with .396 SLG and he was in the lineup 26 times in August. Cardinals are hoping he will improve. That is the strategy.

No. The strategy was to play the young ones this year to see what shakes out.

I agree that should be the strategy but Gorman was in the lineup 26 times in August.

What is it now? Today 0-4 with 3 K's puts him down to a .214 avg .709 ops. Yes I see the walk rate. I find myself saying (especially when I wear my Gorman apologist hat) that every player not named Albert Pujols is going to get their numbers in streaks.

Let's just take the pulse today, is Gorman still irreplaceable? He very well could be around next year to show us another year, since we are going to need to fill out a roster.

I just don't see how, outside of a potential career year, most of his seasons don't end up around a similar .210-.230 BA with 20-25 homers, 30 on the high side. Injury prone and inconsistent power. Where have we seen that before?

Would love to be proven wrong. Of course at 2nd base his power provides some value, and he for sure plays a better 2nd base than he does 3rd base.
His swing can be fluid, unlike Walker. Needs glasses? Regardless, he is not a high caliber defender. They need better at 3rd.

You're right about the swing. Very fluid, quick, powerful.

The trouble with Gorman is that he’s not a very accomplished baseball player and ownership was counting on him to bail them out.
