I thought they should have kept Matheny but in fairness to Shildt the Padres are 8th in MLB in injured payroll at $46 million. Cardinals have the lowest injured payroll at $2 million which explains why they are exceeding preseason expectations.

The NL Central has won 21 games more than they have lost.
The NL West has lost 14 more games than they have won.
