It'll take Oli another 6-8 years to get 5 playoff games under his belt.

The Padres lost the series primarily due to their first 3 batters in the lineup not coming thru. Tatis was 1 for 12, Arraez 2 for 11, Machado 1 for 10. All of their hits came in game 2, which the Padres won.
5 playoffs. 0 wins. He inherited fantastic veteran rosters twice and can't win when it counts.
This may have already been pointed out, but the 2019 NLDS happened.

I find it funny Scotch understands the concept of inheriting a solid roster except when it comes to Matheny.

The Cardinals missed the playoffs in 2016, 2017, 2018.
Shildt took over in mid-2018.

You claim “he inherited a fantastic veteran roster” in 2018?

Ok.

I have yet to see a manager throw a pitch or swing a bat in a game. Players play and execute. This obsession with managers and the outcome of games is wonky. When the Tigers folded against the Cardinals in 2006 the manager wasn't out there throwing the ball all over the place.

What got him fired in St Louis reportedly was going on a local sports talk radio show and saying he did as well as could be expected given the lack of talent on the team. That's still the excuse?

San Diego's payroll is higher than the Cubs.

Blaming the manager when his team's biggest hitters flunked out is evidence of an anti-Shildt bias. The Padres won 1 of 3 on the road against a favored team. About what would be expected.

Yea it’s stupid all these Teams that fire managers I guess they don’t understand managers don’t matter someone should probably tell the players managers don’t matter since they think they do also

It's everything. Some based on manager moves, but usually it just comes down the little things, luck, two out hitting, execution, umpire balls/strike calls which can change at bats, etc. He put the best team out there he had available.
