Mo just needs to clean out his desk and get measured for a strait jacket.

Re: Cards trade strategy
I'm not surprised Duran went for more, but I am surprised how much more they got back. Struggling to find much to be happy about with this.
I understood moving Helsley, but the point was supposed to be to get a haul for him to accelerate the rebuild. That's not close to what happened and now a fan favorite is gone with little to be excited about for the future.
I try to find a positive way to spin things but can't seem to find it with this move.

The hard part is watching the Giants get major league ready talent for Rogers while the Cardinals take 3 flyers on A-level players.sdaltons wrote: ↑30 Jul 2025 22:35 pm I'm not surprised Duran went for more, but I am surprised how much more they got back. As previous poster mentioned, between the injuries and setbacks, the 40-man doesn’t present great optimism, currently.

Seems rather stupid to limit yourself to that kind of a return on purpose.82birds wrote: ↑30 Jul 2025 21:51 pm looks like they purposely went for LOW minor leaguers per this from a Derrick Goold article in the PD:
A priority for the Cardinals at the deadline was acquiring players from the lower minors who would not create more traffic on the 40-player roster before a new front office leadership takes over following this season.

Low A trade strategy.
Consider now who needs to be protected on the 40-man from the rule 5 draft. How many injured pitchers have to be protected.
Can sort it out in out in the early off season. But assume they are looking at that.

I just don’t see how it would be possible to run this organization any stupider than they’ve done the last few years. However, by tomorrow I’ll have been proven wrong, I’m sure!

Bloom not allowed in the room?
That makes no sense to me.

Couldn’t have summed it up better.Jatalk wrote: ↑30 Jul 2025 22:06 pmSo basically this year is a total waste of time. Why wouldn’t you let the new front office start now making changes now? So you purposely undervalue Helsley just for a cleaner slate?82birds wrote: ↑30 Jul 2025 21:51 pm looks like they purposely went for LOW minor leaguers per this from a Derrick Goold article in the PD:

Stupid and confusing.

Anybody defending John Mozeliak's stupid moves has issues.TopofthePerch wrote: ↑30 Jul 2025 22:54 pmThe I am smarter than Mo crowd already have severe brain damage.swatski wrote: ↑30 Jul 2025 21:56 pmSave yourself some brain damage and don’t try to make sense of anything Mo decides to do.blueboys69 wrote: ↑30 Jul 2025 21:54 pm Why is that the strategy ?
