Bringing up Graceffo (and sending down Fernandez, although much too slowly) was a strong step in the right direction addressing that 6th-8th innings you mention.greyhawk wrote: ↑08 May 2025 14:16 pmthey need to figure out the 6th thru 8th innings without destroying MM or GG--- leahy has been great, helsley hasn't pitched enough to get any traction --- matz has been decent but is he a short reliever? romero? then what?rockondlouie wrote: ↑08 May 2025 12:00 pm+1Futuregm2 wrote: ↑08 May 2025 11:44 amAgreed, it’s not the end all be all. It’s a solid gage though I think of where players/teams stand.rockondlouie wrote: ↑08 May 2025 11:43 amI have a problem w/the defensive part of the metric, too subjective IMO.
I use WAR as simply one tool in the tool box when evaluating players, never have seen as the "be all and end all" some do.
I prefer a combination of my own experience + metrics + traditional counting stats when formulating an opinion.
And given where our players stand, then this could end up being a decent season IF they can correct their road woes.
Matz has been solid.
Toss in JoJo changing the grip on his four seamer and he's looked better since.
Maton started off great, has backslide but hopefully gets straightened out.
I'm not high on King or Roycroft, Mo can do better.
I wonder if they'll bring up McG and toss him in the pen' w/the thought they will deal Fedde (or Mikolas if he'll waive the NTC) and he then moves into the SR?
