Oh, it started innocently enough, at about 12 years old, when I accidently walked out of a 7-11 without paying for a package of baseball cards. I felt guilty but there was an unfamiliar thrill which lingered. So I started lifting candy bars, gum, cod liver oil, and other desirable things from the store just to see if I could. The problem with thievery, and all vices for that matter, is that the thrills inexorably require one to raise the stakes. So I did. I stole some steaks, then other cuts of beef. I almost got caught with a 10lb brisket stuffed into my shirt but my sister pulling the fire alarm gave me a brief opportunity to scram. So I did. I started stealing cars in high school, but that soon became stale. I stole a bus and an 18-wheeler and finally, the coup-de-grace, an Oscar Meyer Weinermobile. I'm surprised I was never caught with such an eye-catching vehicle, but I kept it out of places where police might go so I usually only used it to cruise Washington Avenue for hookers. It was after a night doing hookers and blow with a guy some of you might know, I'll be discreet and won't say his name ... I'll just refer to him as Keith, or KH, where he suggested I go big time and steal houses. So I started a mortgage fraud business stealing peoples homes. As a front, I briefly landed a job with a local baseball team thanks to KH, as a backup catcher. Soon, though, people found out that BrummerStealsHomes.

I work in one of the National Labs and had an employee forget to “rezero” a scale when measuring some hazardous material. I guess I made too big of deal about it as people told me I never had to worry about anyone ever doing that again.

I saw Triumph in '83 at the Checkerdome (Never Surrender tour) and in '86 at Kiel Auditorium (Sport of Kings tour). Extremely underrated in my opinion. They put out some epic rock and roll, and Rik Emmett's guitar playing and vocals were as good as anyone!SameOldBlues wrote: ↑09 Jul 2025 12:41 pmTheres a blast from the past, Triumph! In the early morning hours of Monday, August 27th, the helicopter SRV and others were in went down in the hills of Wisconsin. My screenname is in honor of Stevie and the year he died.
Saw Metallica in a bar in 1984. No glam, just thrash Cliff was amazing.
SRV
Triumph
Motorhead
John Lee Hooker
And so glad that Dave was kicked outta Metallica, cuz lots more music to enjoy with 2 bands, tho I lost interest in Metallica once Jason left. Cliff was a great music writer.
Another fortunate concert. Saw Ozzy with Randy just before he passed.... honestly guys, I am not a curse!

Awesomeness. I always heard Emmett was cocky and arrogant, but I dig that in a rock star sometimes, unless your name is Lars.SRV1990 wrote: ↑10 Jul 2025 08:38 amI saw Triumph in '83 at the Checkerdome (Never Surrender tour) and in '86 at Kiel Auditorium (Sport of Kings tour). Great recap....but it might have busted a memory of mine that has never left my head.opti mist wrote: ↑09 Jul 2025 10:32 amThe St. Louis Cardinals won the 1964 National League pennant through a dramatic late-season surge, capitalizing on the Philadelphia Phillies' historic collapse. On September 20, the Phillies led the NL by 6.5 games with 12 games remaining, while the Cardinals were tied with the Cincinnati Reds for second place. The Cardinals, who had been 11 games back on August 23, went 8-2 in their final 10 games, including a crucial three-game sweep of the Phillies from September 29 to October 1, where they outscored Philadelphia 17-7.
Key performances included Bob Gibson starting four of the last 10 games, pitching 35 innings with a 2.31 ERA, and earning three wins. The acquisition of Lou Brock earlier in the season added speed and offensive spark, with Brock hitting .348 in the final stretch. Meanwhile, the Phillies lost 10 straight games, including the sweep by St. Louis, due to injuries to key players like Frank Thomas and over-reliance on fatigued pitchers Jim Bunning and Chris Short, who lost all six starts on short rest.
On the final day, October 4, the Cardinals clinched the pennant with an 11-5 victory over the New York Mets, finishing 93-69, one game ahead of the Phillies and Reds, who both ended at 92-70. The Cardinals’ strong finish, driven by Gibson’s pitching and timely hitting from players like Ken Boyer and Bill White, combined with Philadelphia’s collapse, secured their first pennant since 1946.[](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1964_St._ ... als_season)[](https://thisgreatgame.com/1964-baseball-history/)[](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1964_Phil ... ies_season)
Did not the Cards actually have to wait to clinch for a loss by either the Reds or the Phillies? Whichever team that played Pittsburgh?
I remember KMOX tuning into that Pittsburgh game and carrying it live to STL and the Pittsburgh announcer (was it Prince) saying ....something akin to...."Jack (Buck)....the Cardinals won the pennant".
Am I crazy?

Remember the thin record? I played "Dizzy Fingers" by Chet Atkins about 2,112 times, and was quite dizzy.Francis Park Thug wrote: ↑12 Jul 2025 13:55 pmYes they are......for a price. $ depending on what and how much you want.SameOldBlues wrote: ↑12 Jul 2025 13:09 pmAny idea if old issues are online? Luvthablues is a simple philosophy:
To show love for my Team and be the antithesis to the negativity that overwhelms this board at times.
I joined in 2003 to get news on the Demitra arbitration. Back then, I was “jacknasty” and the board was predominantly friendly and fun, really hockey-minded people.
In 2019, I had to create a new name and decided that I was sick of the bashers, especially since the team was off to such a rough start, and focus solely on the positives, promoting what it means to love the team and the game…essentially modelling the best fan I can be. I don’t post often, but I’m surprised how many DM’s I get from non-posters thanking me for being a small light. At least I’m trying! LGB!
