ONE of you should have seen that fouled off his foot.
If a the ball is batted off the foot , it can be a ball 'in play' if the umpire determines the foot was in fair territory at the time it was struck .
Here is summary of the rule :

Yes, a ball hitting the batter's foot and going fair is considered a fair ball in play, provided the batter's foot is in fair territory when it'(poop). The location of the ball determines fair or foul, not the location of the batter's body or feet when the ball hits them, but the part of the body that is hit. The ball remains in play.

So that is why Walker had to run that ball out .
Excellent post! It's easy to forget that a part of the batter's box is in fair territory. Would like to see another replay now.
Ah so it was still dumb base running by sagasse for going home and walker going to second so still dumb base running by both of them
Saggese didn't initially go, he judged it foul off the foot, then jogged home...there's 2 bonehead plays there, then Jordan trying to get to 2B was your 3rd.

Microcosm of this team...leadership, Oli doesn't coach/manage his team.
That is why they need to change manager if they are serious about getting the players to take stuff seriously. He is faking teaching fundamental baseball.
That’s why it’s dumb when people say bring him back next season is a lost season anyway so why not? They need to bring in a manager who can make sure the young players learn fundamentally sound baseball and oli obviously is not that guy

Fermin? Heating up? Should've been given a chance to play everyday a long time ago.

The baserunning misadventures this season should be enough to clean house with the coaching staff. But there are still some who think oli should get MOY votes. Unreal.

I had the same thought.
...Blame that on the HP ump... If he dosen't call "foul" immediately, ya gotta run. Makes no difference of the batter's opinion... Walker woulda been criticized if he DIDN'T run... Whole crew of umps blew that call... SOMEBODY should have seen the ball hit off Walker's foot...
No one would have blamed him for not running on a foul ball clearly off his foot he should have stayed put and argued and ump would have asked for help. By running he made it look like it was the right call
That was the problem... The HP ump was blocked by the batter on seeing the hit on the foot, but there should have been 3 other sets of eyes on that crew, and at least ONE of them should have saw it. Saggese saw it from 3B and that's why he took his time retreating to 3B. When the foul wasn't called, he was a dead duck.

Clear case of the ump crew "stealing" 2 outs from the Cards. Play not reviewable, so what was called stands, when replay clearly showed to be foul ball...
No saggasse and walker gave them two outs it was bad base running no matter how you defend it
...THAT play is one that really SHOULD be reviewable... Would give the umps a lot more credibility. Had it been reviewable, Cards (as Oli argued) would have avoided the DP...at least on that play...

I'm told he's a future All-Star.

Tied game now.

Masyn stops that earlier grounder up the middle and it's a DP, we still lead.

More of Oli's follies!
even if he had beaten it out, Fermin gets no farther than 3b and then Noot would have struck out.
you gotta swing there for an RBI hit

Now that I agree with I think it’s dumb that it is not. All plays should be reviewable it’s insane they aren’t. But still doesn’t excuse dumb base running.
